I’m honestly not much of a jewelry person… To me an e-ring and wedding ring are the two most important pieces of jewelry that i’ll every wear and I never take it off. FH and I talked about it the other day and he mentioned to me that it bugged him that I don’t want to wear my promise ring anymore on my other hand. He even said that he finds the promise ring to be more meaningful because he promised me that he was going to propose to me some day…
It just baffles me… How can a promise ring be more important?!
Thoughts? Do you still wear yours?

I’m actually going to use my promise ring as my wedding band. It works great and I can keep the ring I love… I’m just going to give it a promotion.

I wear mine from time to time – but definitely not every day…. it’s usually just when I’m wearing something it goes well with or if I’m feeling extra mushy and connected to Fiance that day 🙂

Does everyone have a promise ring? I’d never heard of it before I joined this forum.

I loved my promise ring, I had it for a really long time, and wore it always (even after I broke a post and lost the small diamond in it. We decided to pay to repair it and to replace the diamond with a CZ).
I had planned only wearing it until the wedding. But just as before, I broke one of the posts and since I now had my e-ring it just didn’t make since to pay to repair it again. Now it just sits in my e-ring box. I may tie it to my bouquet or something just so I can have it with me on the wedding day.
Maybe explain to your Fiance that the promises with your vows and wedding band are the most important to you. But you also cherish the meaning of your promise ring therefore you want to X with it. (ideas for X – save as gift for future daughter, make into another piece of jewelry)

@dcdt212: That’s awesome that you can use it for your wedding band! Are you just wearing it on your right hand until then?
Once we’re engaged, I think I will probably just wear my other ring every once in awhile instead of every day like I do now. (I don’t really have a promise ring, I just have a ring from SO that I wear all the time..but it’s “just a ring”).

@SpecialSundae: I don’t know that many people who have a had a promise ring. But my Fiance and met in high school and exchanged rings then. I had always figured it was something that more for couples who met when the were young therefore were going to be dating for a long time (and still held some sentimental ideals)

I have a ring that Fiance got me when i was waiting. i dont consider it a promise ring really, but I do wear it every day on my right hand.

I never had a promise ring, but I do have a ring that he bought me for my birthday, I wore it to work and got a really bad steam burn off of a peice of equipment… Now I have a permanant ring on my right hand becauase it branded me.
My FIand I joke that that that could be my promise ring, since i won’t ever be able to take it off.

@Goodatlove: I actually don’t have my ering yet (at the shop) so it’s doing triple duty at the moment!

I never had a promise ring, if I did I would wear it on my right hand I think.

I wear mine on my right hand and still love it! The only thing is, it’s fake and the “diamond” is bigger than my real diamond, haha. I definitely wouldn’t say it could ever be “more important” than my e-ring, but I still think it’s great.

I never had a promise ring, but he gave me a relatively inexpensive “temporary” engagement ring, so we could pick one out together. I wear that one on my right hand all the time, I only take it off when I shower and put lotion on, like I do with my e-ring. It’s funny when he complains that I almost never wear another ring that he got me and I hafta remind him it’s because it fits that finger and then I wouldn’t be able to wear my original e-ring.

I still wear my promise ring every day on my right hand. My dh gave it to me when I was 15 and it means a lot to me! It’s not an obvious promise ring design either so people can’t tell just by looking at it. Before I met him I switched jewelery every day, but he has given me some beautiful jewelry and I wear only those pieces now. I might switch for a day, but I always end up going back.

I wear mine every once in a while. To me its a bit big. I mostly wear my first engagement ring and my upgrade.
