Aw I’m sorry.. that truly sucks. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Do you have any photos of the original ring? If I were you I’d get the money back and go to another jewler to custom design something similar for you. Explain the situation, how the original design was a bit dainty, how they messed it up, etc. Maybe do a bit of research and find similar looking settings that look a bit sturdier.

On the bright side, at least they are willing to refund your money. This would be so much worse if they didn’t acknowledge their screw ups.

That’s awful! At that point, as much as I loved the original design of the ring, I’d be so frustrated and skeptical of this place that I wouldn’t trust them to do it again properly. Especially if they were giving me attitude, I would just not want to deal with them anymore. I’d probably take the refund and look for a similar/custom design somewhere else.

That must be awful. As a customer I would want a fresh start somewhere else, but I understand that as a bride I might want the sentimental value of that ring as well. It will all turn out just fine, the physical ring isn’t the most important thing, it’s what the ring represents that is far more important. Take this as an opportunity to go ring shopping armed with the knowledge that you have now!

I’d take the refund and run.  Get it repaired or custom made at another place.  These people have proven their incompetence over and over; why would you trust them again?

If they chipped your ruby, they need to offer you more than just a refund.  Can you have them replace the ruby, but then take your business elsewhere for the setting work?

I’d take it somewhere else, you deserve a ring you can wear everyday without worrying if it will break.

I’d just get the refund and go.  They obviously don’t know what they’re doing.

If you can, I would let someone else can design the ring you want and make it a ring you can wear without worrying it will break etc.

This happened to me with my previous engagement ring just 8 months ago. I had it for 3 months and stones kept falling off, the new stones were not place set properly, the prongs were not sturdy for the stones at all.. it was horrible. We tried to repair it three times, and it did not do the charm unfortunately. I got my money back with the insurance that we paid as well so we could take our money to another jeweler and get a new ring which we are in the process of buying now. It really broke my heart, but I came stronger out of this even though emotionally it hurt us alot, since it is such a sentimental value.

I am so sorry you are going through this 🙁
