@somethingaquamarine:  ACK! You got to it before me!!! I seriously am upset I never got to try it. Or maybe I should be happy I didn’t accidentally trap the wrong man. πŸ˜› I never dated anyone vodka cream sauce worthy before my SO.

@MexiPino:  I should make it next week’s waiting food! And yes, I think these engagement recipes must be used wisely. πŸ˜›

@littlemissbossy:  No idea! I think evaporated milk should be fine, but if you need to thicken up the sauce maybe you could add in a little flour or cornstarch. As for vodka, I don’t know if that can be substituted.

omg i truly think I roped my man in with engagement chicken (I didnt know thats what it was called 5 years ago when I made it for him!) He was just a friend then who had just moved to the city and had NO IDEA how to cook. I made him the chicken, then taught him to cook the chicken, and about 3.5 years later we started dating and now we’re getting married in oct πŸ™‚  It’s still the meal he always asks for when he’s sick or sad (second up is linguine with clams, which was passed down from my grandmother as the way to a mans heart)

I love cooking the chicken for him especially- seeing him peering into the oven and being so excited that he eats the molton hot bits right when it comes out of the oven. It’s been an integral part in our lives, for sure πŸ™‚

@somethingaquamarine:  Squee!! YES! It’s perfect waiting food!

Damn it… Anyone have any good ideas for what to use vodka cream sauce on if your SO doesn’t eat pasta? (I know, right? WHO DOESN’T EAT PASTA!??! Now you know why anytime I go out with friends I beg for Italian.)

@littlemissbossy:  I think you could but the less creaminess would take away the never-single-again-ness πŸ˜›

@MexiPino:  Spaghetti squash! Or maybe just make the sauce and put it on the engagement chicken!

Engagement Chicken…

Lol, still haven’t made it as I am not a huge fan of the flavours of Lemon & Chicken together*

BUT I have GOOD NEWS LADIES…

Rachel Ray’s “You Won’t Be Single for Long Vodka Cream Pasta” is a definite WINNER !!

My story is quite similar to the one that bkrocks13 told in Reply # 35

I had seen Rachel Ray’s Show with the Vodka Cream Pasta and thought it sounded great… especially as Mr TTR & I both L♥VE Italian Food, and one of our favourite restaurants makes a mean Vodka Cream Sauce that I’ve never been able to come close too…

So anyhow…

It was near the beginning of Mr TTR’s and I relationship… he was already totally smitten with me, and I was finding him an interesting guy (but if you asked me back then, still in the shadow of my first marriage and the ugly divorce, I would have told you that a 2nd Marriage for this gal was not in the cards… )

Anyhow, the Dinner was great… I still remember it well, because it was one of the first big meals I ever cooked for him at his house.

Fast forward… 5+ more years of blissful dating… and I came to the conclusion that I wanted to marry again.  And so we got engaged.

Did it “work its magic on us”… hard to say… but I would have to say that I made the meal, got the ring, and the marriage in the end.  And that for many gals would be all that matters.

So here is the link to the recipe:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/you-wont-be-single-for-long-vodka-cream-pasta-recipe/index.html

And for all you the Vegetarians out there…

You can make this one too… just switch out the Chicken Stock with Vegetable Stock.

Hope this helps,

* @romantical:  Wow thanks for the info you have put into Reply # 15.  I have made a note and will certainly try that version.  Thanks !!

@somethingaquamarine:  THanks, girl!  You can stalk away.. this site makes it way to easy to do that doesn’t it??  Maybe I’ve been stalking you too…. moohoohaha

I fell in love with the RB and tapered baguette style as soon as I saw it (never got to try one on until I got it though!).  I’m so glad you love it as much as I do!  The other things I was considering were emerald cut with baguettes or cushion cut in a halo.  But I really do love what I have to death.  I’m getting excited for you at the thought of you getting something shiny and brand new Kiss
