I made it while I was “in waiting” and my now-FI bought my ring exactly 3 months after we ate the chicken (and then proposed 1.5 months after getting the ring). I think it was just coincidence and the fact that we had been talking about it for a while.

No harm in trying it though, plus it’s really good!

I made this for Darling Husband a few times while we were dating.  I actually still make it–he enjoys it that much.  I told him the true recipe name after he had proposed…

I only heard of this after joining the Bee!  I haven’t made it, but if it’s really that good, maybe I should (we’re already engaged but hey, we like food).

@love108: “Engagement tofurkey.” You have no idea how hard I just laughed at that!!! Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it πŸ˜‰

This recipe sounds lovely, regardless of the name and whether it works. It certainly impresses your other half though if you can prepare and cook a roast chicken to perfection though, so maybe there is some truth to the whole “the only way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!”

I had actually heard about this on the news yesterday morning. I searched it last night. I read the article on the glamour website it sounds interesting to say the least. Only problem is Handsome’s mother has made it impossible to compete with when it comes to Impressing him with cooking, I’ll give this a try though. It looks yummy to me

What a fabulous recipe!  I just made it again last night after it was a hit a couple months ago (got engaged June 23), and Fiance turns to me and says “god this makes me so happy you’re going to be my wife”.  He was equally as impressed the first time I made it.

But seriously.  It is delicious and cheap and tastes like you spent hours slaving in the kitchen to make it.  Plus, there are tons of leftovers.  Highly recommended!!

I’ve made this for guys before and they never proposed to me.  πŸ˜›

I’ve also made this fabulous pasta (Fettuccine with Proscuitto and Mushrooms) for a fellow before (followed by individual molten chocolate cakes with a homemade raspberry sauce and amaretto whipped cream), and he promptly dumped me.

Just saying it doesn’t always work.
