@Seashells7:  Best advice ever came from my mother: “Don’t forget to live in the moment.”

What she meant was don’t get so caught up in planning, or wishing the wedding would get here faster, etc. Enjoy this time as an engaged couple. When are you going to do it again? ๐Ÿ™‚

I am 20 months into a 24-month engagement, and given the demands of internships and graduate school, I pale at the thought of planning everything in a shorter period of time. There were moments that it seemed to drag on, but overall I am really glad that I had the chance to plan things at a slower pace. It also gave me a chance to really work to find good deals, wait for things to go on sale, etc.

I’m going to be honest here. My husband and I had a 22 month engagement. I was SO SLOW. But I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that we were basically forced to push our wedding back and let my husband’s sister have her pertty princess year when she got married. I think if you have a good mindset it will go a lot faster, I was pissed and I just wanted to be married so my engagement was long.

@mchitt329:  I’m with you!  We got engaged 2/11/2012 and wanted to get married as soon as we feasibly, comfortably could. We also had two couples who were planning to marry in 2013, one who was engaged and one almost engaged, who had already chosen their dates. We didn’t want to get married in the same month as they picked because I am in both of their weddings, and didn’t want to wait until late Spring/Summer when it gets miserably hot here…so, we looked at the NFL calendar (ahem- fiance’ is a bit of a Falcons fan) and chose the weekend between the playoffs and the Super Bowl– the 26th of January. It seemed forever away then, but now at 59 days out, I am wishing we had more time for last-minute things!  Still, I can’t wait to be MARRIED and not have to worry about the WEDDING! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Seashells7:  It sounds like our engagement time frame is almost exactly the same… engaged September 22 of this year & we’re getting married on the same day, June 7, 2014. Part of me is glad that we have such a long time to enjoy being engaged… we booked our venue in October & aren’t planning on doing anything else too major until spring next year & it’s nice to be able to think of DIY ideas & try some of them out to see what will work & what won’t. The other part of me wants to just hurry up and get married already! I’m a huge, huge overplanner, so my wedding planning binder is already overflowing with vendors I want to contact as soon as it feels a little more time-appropriate… I think we’ll most likely have all our vendors selected prior to June 2013… hopefuly having such a long planning period will make the time leading up to our weddings slightly less stressful!

We have been engaged since last Christmas and I can’t believe it has been almost a year already. We have just over one more year to go, and if it goes as fast as the past year I’ll be getting married like, next week. That’s how fast it has gone by!

We got engaged in June of this yr, and it has gone so fast…but thnakfully, we now have everything booked, and my DIY projects are well underway, so hopefully time will slow down a bit

My engagement is 25 months long.. 5 months to go!  A month in, we booked our ceremony site to get it over with, and to make sure we got plenty of date options in case we wanted to change it (which we did).  Then we just laid low for a while, saving up money however and whenever we could.  This past summer we booked a photographer, reception venue, florist, and baker.  All that’s left now is bridesmaid’s dresses, alterations, and invitations so we’re pretty much relaxing again until February!

Time has moved fairly slow for us, but I bet the new year will change everything.  ๐Ÿ™‚

We got engaged 1/1/12, and we now have a little less than 5 months to go.  I was very gung-ho with planning and getting everything booked, so now it I just have the little odds and ends to deal with.  At 1st, it just seemed so far away, like it wasn’t really real.  Now, it is starting to hit me more(especially with the wallet dwindling down with all the deposits and buying things!), and I swear that just last week, it was 8 months away.  It could be a combination of the holidays with the planning making it seem like time is flying by, but it is definitely feeling more “real” faster and faster now!
