- Wedding: February 2017 - The George, Christchurch
We were engaged Sept 2014. We didn’t do anything for the first year. We just answered people with no date yet and enjoyed just being engaged. Then July 2015 we started looking at venues and dates. We chose feb 2017 for our date. Mid to late summer for us. Perfect. We were asked if we had chosen a date 1 hour after our engagement. We were on holiday. After you have a date people ask if you have a venue then other things. Good luck!

We got engaged September 2014, picked a venue/date December 2014 for Fall 2016. And I want to smash my head into a wall. We have a 2 year engagement because of school obligations but the planing being dragged out this much is just torture. I feel like my family is 10x more excited than I am.

We got engaged at the end of June, had the venue booked by August and our date is September 2016 – so 15 month engagement total. It seems like a long time, but it has really flown by and I’m sure this second half of it is going to go even faster. There is so much to do and weddings are so expensive! It is nice to have a little bit of a time cushion.

We got engaged December 29, 2015 and officially set our date today for good after I’ve changed it twice. Our set in stone date is February 17, 2017. My reception place was closed for maintenance my original date January 13 and it was on the 3 day weekend for relatives and Maid/Matron of Honor who are in school so February is the next 3 day weeken. I started planning a month after because I’m having a destination wedding in Hawaii and everyone needs time to plan vacations and book flights and what not

We got engaged 5 days before Christmas, knew that we would get married within a year. After a couple weeks’ discussion with my parents of September v November (our venue is only available outside of summer months, and the church requires you to be engaged at least 6 months, and my fiance’s job is busy in October) we landed on November 12. So overall we will have been engaged for just under 11 months and we decided our date 2-3 weeks after getting engaged. I think we might have done it sooner than that but it was Christmas and it was busy.

We were officially engaged on July 26th, 2015 and we’re getting married in May 2020. We decided on the month and year pretty quickly but we’re still iffy on the exact day (his sister is having a baby in May and we want to make sure we don’t plan it on anyone’s birthday).
We wanted to wait that long because we want to make sure we can save enough money to have the wedding we want (not that it’s going to be a huge extravagant thing but still) and to make sure we have a solid foundation for our future family. Most people, especially our families, have been really supportive of that decision even though it may seem ridiculous to some people, but hey it’s my wedding not theirs.
So far we’ve chosen key pieces of music, who we want as our groomsmen and bridesmaids, the type of rings we want, and basically all the little details. We’re going to be looking at venues in the spring and I’m so excited!
