I didn’t have an engagement party, and to be honest I’ve never been to one – I just read about them here on the Bee πŸ™‚

My family did take us out to an upscale restaurant shortly after we got engaged to celebrate, but that’s it.

My mother is planning to throw us one in her backyard, in my hometown (which is the midpoint between where I live now, and my FI’s hometown).  Since she’ll be supplying all the food (pierogi and lasagna buffet, woo!) I’m keeping the guestlist small; around 20ish.  It’ll be pretty casual, I assume.

I had a casual engagement party thrown by a good family friend in her apartment. Didn’t have much space so kept it small with around 25 people and a few babies/kids.

We just mingled, had drinks, ate, cut the cake, made a little speech. It was nice. Here are some non-people pics.

HA! Well mine was just a small one, basically we were at his cabin on vacation when he proposed. The proposal was in the morning, that afternoon his parents came – we had dinner and then after dinner his Mom had invited all the neighbors over for cake, champagne and strawberries. It was super cute, I love his Mom. So I celebrated with a whole bunch of people I don’t really know πŸ™‚ They brought cards, which I thought was so sweet. What was I wearing, um… well, my bikini with a sweater and comfy pants… hahaha. It was perfect πŸ™‚ Neither of our friends or my family was there since the cabin is in CA and I am from Canada.

I’m having one in july…my parents are hosting…it’s going to be at the sports bar across the street in a private area….it’s going to be small 15-20 people (and that’s a high end guess)…we only invited bridal party and spouses and close/immediate family…..

I’m very excited, it should be fun!  I am having a frame with a pic of us in it for people to sign (since we are doing a jersey at the wedding, I still would love close friends and family sentiments on a pic that we can hang above the couch)…..

FI’s parents threw us one when we went to their house over Christmas. It was really fun and all of their family friends and neighbors came. It was pretty casual and they just had it at their house…probably about 50-60 people. I think I wore a dress? Maybe nice jeans and a cute top. I don’t think I ever saw any pictures but I know some were taken πŸ™

We had a pretty casual engagement party!  My fiance and I actually hosted the party just for our bridesmaids, groomsmen and ushers.  We went to a BYOB sushi restaurant in Chicago.

Hello brides to be! Our engagement party was causal, but my other half and I was really dressed up since it was about us lol. We had it at a restaurant that was affordable. My planner actually decorated and created games and we played, laughed and did a couple toast. I suprised my fiance’ and had a cake made he loved. Afterwards a couple friends, my sister, maid of honor and her other half all went out to have drinks and party. Overall it was great a day to remember. Sorry for some of the oversize pics.

It was a blast! We hosted a Star Trek themed party at our house and invited all the guests who were within driving distance. There were two formally planned games, but it was pretty casual overall and the guests knew ahead of time that it was not a gift giving event. I think we had 18 guests total.

I made all the food with a little help from Fiance. We had Asian appetizers (homemade eggrolls, Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, etc…) but we had little cards that give each dish a Star Trek name like Klingon Gagh or Hasperat Wheels.

One of the games was a quiz that we took together to determine which alien species they belonged to. They wrote the result on their name tag (which coincidentally had a combadge on it) and we went around in a circle introducing ourselves and results. It was a good who’s who ice breaker. Most of our family is pretty geeky, so it worked well.

We had a small engagement party. We hosted and ordered the food. My MC was my cousin. We did get gifts, but we didn’t ask for anything. We played one game, ate lots of great food, and had a great time with our bridal party.

Later that evening, I hosted a cupcakes and cocktails party for my BM’s. We ate leftover food from the engagement party, ate cupcakes, and talked wedding for a few hours. It was a great day!
