I have never actually been to an engagement party but it doesn’t really seem like a gift giving event.

I would bring a card and a bottle of wine and that would be it.

ETA: I just looked it up and gifts are not customary at an engagement party; however, people may still bring them.

I would tell your friend where you are registered but ask her not to advertise it and only tell people if she is asked!

We had an engagement party… Everyone kept asking us where we were registered, but honestly we had only been engaged for about 2-3 months and hadn’t even thought about that yet! We told people we weren’t registered, and not to get us anything…. Well they all ended up giving us cash. Haha. I think if people want to give a gift they are going to regardless of what you say. I don’t think it’s a big deal to tell people where you are registered if they are asking. 🙂 HTH!

I have been to or hosted dozens. Many times the bride and groom have received wedding related gifts. My dear cousin had already settled on her theme so people gave peocock themed items to help them with the cost of their wedding. Other friends have just gotten the same gifts as they would for their shower. I am hoping we receive mismatched vintage plates, glasses, silverware, napkins, etc. for ours. We intend to use these things in our home afterward but I really need them to pull off our wedding theme. I am told people are having a blast scouring yardsales and thrift shops looking and I am so looking forward to see everyones amazing finds. Finding enough to keep up with our growing list has become a nightmare(300+). I could definitely use the help and I don’t feel greedy about these gifts as they tend to be inexpensive.:D
