just have a small get together with a few friends and family at a local restaurant, I understand your mothers concern, but at 26 you are def not the same person you were at 17:) Hope this helps

We’re having ours at an apartment clubhouse. Its during the day and its gonna be fun and simple. Happy planning!

Sounds like your mom is being overly cautious about the situation. Neither Fiance nor my parents hosted our engagement party. My matron and maid of honor hosted and all my friends came and my mother and stepmother for a short time. It was great fun so I’d suggest that! Happy planning!!

A wedding is very expensive in itself…at least this is how me and my fiance see it so we figured an engagement party was a little extra thing and that much money should not be spent on it. So…we had ours a Pats of Henderson. The wedding party and close family was invited. We booked a room inside the restraunt(100 deposit that we got back). Everyone paid for their own meal and drinks. Everyone had a great time and at no cost to our parents. After we went out with our wedding party to celebrate with them!! Great night!
