- Wedding: July 2013
I just got engaged on my birthday, at a romantic dinner with just my (now) fiance. YAY!
We had already planned a my birthday party for a week from now, with all of our local friends (and a few co-workers). I didn’t have it on my actual birthday, since so many people had travel plans for memorial day. I’ve been spreading the word about the birthday party for about a month. Now we’re thinking, make things easy and suprise the local friends with the announcement at the birthday party. Its going to be very casual; appetizers and drinks at our house, we’ll get a couple of bottles of champagne to toast. No gifts, no fuss. I’ll change the cake design a little. 😉
I know about the “formal rules”… usually everyone invited to the engagement party gets an invite to the wedding, or else they wonder what went wrong.
The problem is co-workers. We haven’t lived here very long, and I had a bunch of co-workers invited. I don’t want to snub them now on the birthday party side, but I’m not close enough to many of them yet to be sure I want to invite them to a wedding in a year. Is it ok to invite co-workers to the (super casual) engagement party and not to the wedding?
