I dont have any ideas, but I’d love to hear some also!! We are planning to have an engagement party at the end of the summer and are running into a slightly similiar problem. ~300 invited to wedding, prob ~100 to party — maybe 75ish will attend. My FIL’s offered their house, but the rest of the decided it would be too hectic, time consuming, crowded, etc. So we are looking for a venue either in Philly or a suburb (restaurant?) to host a buffet style dinner, maybe have some music (DJ).

My guess is a restaurant with a large private party room might work best – that way you don’t have to pay to buy out the entire place, but 75 people is definitely do-able for some locations…especially suburban ones.  I just don’t know the NJ burbs well enough.  Most Philly ones would probably either very expensive or too small, unless you did buy the place out in which case it would again be very expensive.  The OpenTable list of “Philadelphia Private Dining and Banquets” is really long but it might be a good starting point since it does give some info.  http://www.opentable.com/info/banquets.aspx?m=13
