Hello Bees! My fiance and I decided to have our engagement photos done in the Fall, and the leaves are finally changing so we have a date planned. We wanted to do them at Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown among the Gardens, however it doesn’t open until 2pm, and our photographer said he is not available that late in the day (not happy).
What are other good options for engagement photos in DC? We dont’ want to do the monuments or anything. Meridian Hill Park was another option, but I love Dumbarton Oaks so much more!! Anything with a garden, flower, trees, water type feel is what we’re looking for….. help please!! Thank you 🙂

We did our pictures in meridan hill park and dumbarton oaks. And we loved the way they turned out.
Keep in mind dumbarton doesn’t actually allow any wedding/engagement photographs, so if you go there you will need to be sneaky. We were there in the middle of january and got lucky (and were in the far parts of the garden away from the house-and our photographer had a ‘cover story’ about being a student) but I’ve heard stories of photographers having to delete files. But plenty of people also seem to get away with it myself included, but just something to be aware of. http://www.doaks.org/about/visit-dumbarton-oaks/photography
How about the arboretum out in NE? Or there’s meadlowlark if you were into having pictures in VA. There’s also the Georgetown canal area if you are into the waterfront idea.
Some more ideas. http://www.unitedwithlove.com/2011/12/08/favorite-local-engagement-session-spots/

We did ours in the Tidal basin, but you might like to do the park behind N. Scott Street in Arlington. It is off the beaten path and there are leaves everywhere. It is so pretty.
You also might like Memorial Bridge, especially facing Arlington. The view is greaf. And walking the streets of Georgetown (37th and O or so) would be beautiful.

- Wedding: November 2011 - Florida Aquarium
We did ours all around Georgetown, but we had the canal/arches/cool walls/trees thing going on. Our photos did come out pretty wonderfully.
Sorry… I’m realizing that wasn’t much help. Have you asked your photog for ideas? Typically, they have a ton of places they love to shoot and can point you in the best direction.

Speaking of the arboretium, there’s a session on UWL today. If you didn’t end up doing georgetown and the canal-it looks like what you were thinking of.
