I think you should wear what you feel like.  Black is a classic choice, for me, anyways.  I’m sure you’ll look beautiful no matter what!

I say rock the black if that’s what you like.  I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t wear black in engagement photos.  I would say though, maybe look for a bright shoe or piece of jewelry.  A pop of color can look really cute in the pics.

For one of our outfits, Fiance wore black with a red tie and I wore a black/white polka dot dress with pearls and bright red heels

Wear whatever expresses who you are. Me and my Fiance wore black/white and we had our photos taken outside in a garden area. They turned out great!

I think engagement pics should reflect you as a couple so I wouldn’t wear something you aren’t comfortable in because then your pictures are going to reflect that you aren’t comfortable.

The outfit I chose for our engagement pictures was black, and I freaked out about it for a bit too, after I read that black was not recommended, but my pictures turned out gorgeous.  Rock what you’re comfortable in!

I wore black.  My photographer told me to (I gave him the option of a black dress and a dark purple dress).  I did put a bright purple sweater over the dress.  It looked good- too bad the pics didn’t come out very good.
