I’m home for Christmas break and didn’t even think about the possibility of doing engagement pictures when I was packing. Our photographer managed to squeeze us in Saturday morning for pictures and now I realized I really have nothing to wear.
I was thinking about getting this dress (opens new window at White House Black Market) anyway and I thought it’d be really cute but it’ll be about 30 degrees outside and while i have a sweater to wear with it, mom says it’ll be too cold and it’ll look stupid to wear that outside in the winter “You need to dress for the weather” she says.
What’d you ladies think? I need to buy new clothes for the session anyway because I literally brought nothing i can wear. We’re thinking of changing into jeans and a t-shirt if we have time that’s more “us” but we’re thinking something like jeans and nice shirt or a pretty dress for me. He’s easy, we’ve got him covered, he’ll wear nice jeans and a button down shirt.

That’s a cute dress but if you are jeans and tshirt people, I would wear that for your pictures. We wore jeans and sweaters for our pictures and it was more comfortable being outside.

We’re definitely jeans and t-shirt people, but being jeans and t-shirt people we don’t have occasion to dress up much and i do love to dress up, i’m just not ballsy enough to do it when i don’t have a real reason to. I was hoping to use this as an excuse to buy a pretty dress and get dolled up, though i understand how crazy that sounds.

You have to wear something that you are comfortable and feel great in or it will show in the pictures. So a strapless dress in the cold is not something that leave you smiling or feeling sexy. If you are set on wearing the dress, why not try to think of some indoor locations?

It was about 55 out when we took our outdoor wedding photos, and I was in a wedding gown (not even strapless), floor length, and you can tell I’m cold in a lot of the photos. Hunched shoulders, clenched fists, tense jaw and forehead….
We (my girls and I) spent the entire outdoor portion of the photoshoot with cardigan sweaters over our shoulders, and just before the photog was ready to snap a pic, my dad would run behind us and grab all the wraps off our shoulders. We were FREEZING, and it was only 55!
You’ll be cold. 🙁
How about a cute new sweater with skinny jeans tucked into slouchy boots and a chunky necklace?
