I would coordinate but not be matchy matchy. I wore a black and grey dress and he wore grey pants and a red shirt.

We only brought one outfit since we were outside by the ocean and there was no place to change. I did however bring an extra pair of shoes.

I am very partial and I like engagement pictures when people dress up. Not so much that you don’t look like you but it’s a special occasion.

Talk to your photographer about how many outfits to bring- they may allow a certain number per engagement session.

We did two outfits and didn’t match. For one we wore jeans- I wore a black shirt and he wore a blue and white button up. The second one was a little more dressy- I worn a dress from White House Black Market and he wore a dress shirt and slacks.

If you go with similar colors that is probably fine but I wouldn’t go get orange Old Navy performance fleece vests or anything (we had a family at my church that wore them for their pictures!) I’ve heard that dark colors usually photograph better than prints and solids better than patterns. I think there are still people that look great in lighter colors though.

I’m a theme gal, so maybe picking a theme that represents your couple-ness might make it easier. Or thinking about a location that represents your relationship and picking outfits to go with that… OR to completely contrast it.

If you’re using the pic for the Save-The-Date Cards you might want to wear some colors that match your wedding colors so you can coordinate the stationary. I wish I had of, the thought of everything not matching now makes me stressed… Cute pics lampshade!

Definitely talk to your photographer about what he/she suggests, they are the expert after all!  I’m a model though so in general I bring at least 4 outfits to a photoshoot to have variety.  I would also suggest not matching but making sure you don’t clash with your fiance.  I don’t know too much about engagment shoots in general though but on a typical photoshoot it’s the details that make a difference, like making sure no bra straps are showing or having a good pair of earrings to draw attention to your face.
