Here’s the deal. Fi and I are not ‘fancy’ people. Obviously we find each other attractive, but we’re certainly not tall trim supermodel types. We don’t get dressed up, I rarely do my hair or makeup unless there’s some event to go to (I work in a daycare, I live in yoga pants and ponytails). Sadly, going through all of my pictures the other day, even after spending a week in the Dominican, there are very few pictures of the two of us where we BOTH look good. Mainly, we have pictures that I took myself (facebook style holding my arm in front of us) and maybe one or two that someone else took when we were both paying attention. He is notorious for closing his eyes or making stupid faces. I would LOVE some more pictures of us, but I don’t know if ‘engagement photos’ would be the way to go? I have a friend who takes amazing pictures and I know if we asked him he would be more than happy to take great pictures, but I don’t know if that’s ‘us’. And I don’t know where we would go to have them taken, although I kind of want us to go to the bar where we first met (blind date, we didn’t actually meet in a bar LOL) because I think those could be some fun pictures…thoughts???

Actually, right before I logged on here the partner and I were talking about getting pictures taken. Like you guys, we don’t have a whole lot of photos of us. I would love to have a nice framed picture of us, or us and our dog in our house. We haven’t set up a wedding website yet, but I don’t know if I’m wild about any of the photos I have of us. A few that we took Facebook style I think are cute but he is so sure he looks awful that he asked me to not even bring them into my office to put on my desk! We are not sure if we’re going to call the photos we are going to get done “engagement photos” or just… “yay! finally some nice photos!”. We definitely want to get a photo of where we met (a coffee shop) as well as in front of our house (over the fireplace, my partner has a few pics of the house and the blueprints). I think the bar pictures could be really cute! There’s definitely a lot of potential – pictures out front, sitting at a booth together, etc. Actually, when I was a bartender we had a couple take some of their wedding photos in the bar! They came in before we were open so they could have their run of the place.

What does it hurt to try? Mr. LK and I are definitely not models, and before our e-photos I could count on 1 hand how many semi-decent photos we had of us together. I am so happy we had those photos done, and it’s definitely nice to have many good photos to look at and enjoy. We took our photos at all of the places we went to on our first date.

My Fiance are pretty much the same – low-frills, don’t take a lot of pictures. It does make me sad that we have so few good ones, so after we got engaged we asked a friend who is a photography student if we could pay her to take some. We haven’t gotten them done yet because I’m currently in the process of losing a ton of weight (30 lb. so far), but we’re going to get them done next fall in time to get Save the Dates printed. We plan on going up to our university where we met and just taking pictures in various locations. I think the bar would be great, if it’s a special place to you!
