Hi Bees! I am having e pics done soon in downtown Manhattan. Has anyone had theirs taken downtown? I would love to see some and if you have recommendations of places we should go. Also, despite where you had them, does anyone recommend having any props? And what to wear? Thanks!

klablo7: Wear something you are comfortable in, and feel like yourself. If you can change clothes, you can have a slightly fancier outfit also. I’d skip the props. Can’t help you with location other than to suggest places with some meaning to you.

klablo7: I’ve only been to NYC one and loved it….so I had to look at a Map, Not sure what to consider Manhatten but it basically said in and around Central Park. There are so many cool places within central park you could take pictures for your engagement shoot. Belvedere castle, Shakespeare in the Park, Baseball Diamonds, Park areas, The area where you can go on canoes, The bridge area, chess and checkers house, horse and carriage pictures (heard they were taking them out though but not sure if they have or not yet) etc etc. Maybe a cute cafe downtown manhatten. I was told to pick something that is you so you feel more natural in your pictures. Maybe a favourite cute restaurant?

klablo7: Downtown Manhattan….. consider the meatpacking district, highline, battery park, south street seaport.
I am not a fan of props. I think props take away from the photo and make it look a little cheesy.
I am a big fan of dresses in engagement photo shoots.

We took our engagement pics in Manhattan, and we took some downtown (we shot on the Upper East Side, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Seaport, and near City Hall) The Seaport and City Hall were really the only places we took pictures downtown.
We live in Manhattan so we took pictures at places we’d been on dates, and by our apartment, etc. We did not use any props! We felt like we were too old for that. We also didn’t dress up, and that worked out well for us too – it was cold! Edit – OMG sorry these are freaking huge, I hate the new uploader on Weddingbee.
