Our e-pics were scheduled for October 14, but it was a morning shoot and Fiance preferred evening. So when she offered this Sunday after a cancellation I said sure. And now we have nothing to wear, and I don’t know what we’re supposed to wear (or where to take them, but thats another story).
I know to go for solids over prints, I’m not a heels girl, and I like cool colors like green & blue. However, I don’t think I have anything that fits well* that I particularly like–which means I need to go shopping tomorrow, and Fiance would like something new too. I’m regular size and not a very adventurous dresser, but I do love color. Any ideas for me? What should I look for tomorrow when I go shopping??
(And if you have any good downtown Chicago e pic location recommendations, I won’t turn those down either!)
*I lost a ton of weight two years ago after a bad break up and the accompanying eating nothing, and I’ve now gained it all back–so I’m not fat, but I’m much bigger than I was a year ago, and nothing newer/that I really like fits all that well except for some work pants and patterned shirts, which are probably not the best picks.

Wear something you are comfortable in – feel like YOU in…. and perhaps if you can do a outfit change, also something a bit fancier? Or add a scarf or cardigan for texture and depth so the B & W photos look extra great.

Wear whatever you feel confident and comfortable in! You want your personality and love for your Fiance to shine through in the photos, not the fact that you are uncomfortable in your clothes.
Color is great! Maybe try a cute dress and boots for one outfit (can add/take off scarf, cardigan, etc.), and a pair of jeans with a nice but casual shirt for the second.

@Astra: @Audrey2_sings: I liked the cardigan idea! Those probably still fit me too! 🙂 I have a lot of the flowy ones, but I’m guessing thats bad?
And anyone have opinions about black? Not a good choice? Ok?
I’m hoping to pick up some new jeans tomorrow, and pair those with boots. And maybe a dress if I can figure out where to look quickly.

@MaryRachel: I did two outfits – a white dress with brown belt and cowboy boots, and then a nicer green dress with nude pumps.
I got both of his shirts at J.Crew and my green dress was from Antonio Melani (Dillard’s) and my white dress was just from a local boutique. Hope this kind of helps!

@MaryRachel: date twin! And city twin!
Fiance and I just took our e-pics downtown Chicago last week! We took some at Daley Plaza (that’s where we actually got engaged) and then walked over to the Art Institute gardens for our other pictures:)
i wore a nice dress (light pink with heels) Fiance in black pants and a button down, and then we changed…both of us in jeans, him in a brow. thermal shirt, and me in an oatmeal long sleeved shirt, tall boots, and cute printed scarf. Neutrals are good!

@MaryRachel: Flowy cardigan would be fine! As is black. Do you have a scarf that could be a fun pop of color?
Just remember to get some comfortable above all! It really will show in your pictures. After all, it’s not about the outfit it’s about you and your FI!

We’re taking ours tomorrow! It’s going to be in th 60’s this weekend, so I’m doing jaans for one outfit and a favorite dress for another.
Our locations are the lily pond in lincoln park, Michigan Ave by the river, and the skyline at the planetarium.
One place i wanted to visit that my fiance didn’t is Lightology. It’s a light store downtown that lets you take pics inside, and on their gorgeous rooftop deck. No appointment needed, just show up during businees hours.

@ourlovesong: I love how your pics turned out! I’m definitely not southern enough to pull off cowboy boots but they look adorable on you.
@soontobehisbride: I hadn’t even thought about doing some solid colored but with texture, like your lace!
@Audrey2_sings: My Fiance hates scarves, so thats probably out. I’ll definitely comb through my cardigans though.

@LivingInPink99: Double twins! Where are you getting married? We got engaged in the courtyard at my church (across from the Hancock) but since we’ll obviously get wedding pictures there we didn’t think it made sense to do engagement. He used to live across the street from the Art Institute though, so that would be a great location.
@karebear3: I like the idea of Michigan Ave by the river! We might do by Adler as well. The lily pond is sooo pretty but Fiance hasn’t been there.
We were thinking Buckingham Fountain and Navy Pier (specifically the swings because we both love those) and maybe somwhere else downtown but we aren’t sure what. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!
