Even if your puppy isn’t there, wouldn’t it be great to have him in your pictures forever, that way you can always remember him??? We couldn’t put ours in our pics, but we have taken “family” pics with her. I say if its feasible, go for it!!

I think you should do it. It’s a cute idea, and your dad is right. Somewhere along the line your little boxer will not be there, but the pictures will be there forever.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I’m not a fan of pets in engagement pictures.

I think it’s a great idea to have your “fur baby” in the pics – he won’t be in all the pictures, probably only a few, but what a great family pic!

Im having my dog in our pictures for sure. I would have him in my wedding if I could lol! He is apart of our family and I love him to death. We plan to put him in the car for part of the session so we can have some pictures of just us.

 I think I would feel differently if the dog was all over the wedding album or something, but for engagement pictures, go for it!  Assuming you aren’t planning on having him in all your pictures, that might be overkill.  And my family dog died about 5 years ago and when I see pictures of her I just have fond memories, I don’t feel sad.

I have to agree with KatyEllePets don’t belong in e pics.  The pet is not who you are marrying.  It should be just you and your Fiance.

We didn’t have our dog for engagement pictures, but she’s definitely going to be in some wedding pictures.  10 years down the road if she is gone (I hope she’s here longer!!) I’ll still remember that happy day with her and I don’t think I’ll regret it a bit.

We just had this same conversation!  He is dead-set on having our (it was his first) American bulldog in our engagement pics this weekend.  I’m still not completely sold on the idea…I thought it should be about us.

@Sassygrn: Touche, but you (FI, you and dog) are also a family.  (I know some people have different ideas of how “family” dogs are).

I mean…if the dog is in every single picture I think it’s overkill.  But in a couple pictures?  Why not?

@Armywife89:

Maybe some examples would help?  Just googling engagement photos dog brings up some great photos.

Perhaps you can bring a friend who is willing to watch the dog for at least 1 photo in each location w/o him (not the fiance, the dog ;-).  If he’s the kind of guy who doesn’t like taking photos, bring up that the puppy could take some of the attention/ stress off.  What are his reasons? Does he think it should be formal?

I wouldn’t worry about the pictures being depressing later.  Our family dog has pictures with the family and all I think of are the good times we had with her!

It’ll look great! My brother’s 2 yr old boxer loves posing for the camera!

@soon2bhis: Eh, my daughter is family I wouldn’t have her in the pics either.

@soon2bhis: I grew up on a farm and have had many pets. I get the whole dog is part of the family but I find it silly to have a pet in engagement picture.  I can see causal pictures. Lord knows I have a ton of pictures of my cat and she is part of Fiance and I but she is no way going to be in pictures with the wedding

We would put ours in if she would cooperate. She is a complete mess in front of the camera so we don’t want to hassel with it.
