It’s hard to say. I would put our dogs in our engagement pics just because it describes us. Everyone knows we have two gigantic dogs, they go lots of places with us and they ARE family. However, I do see KatyElle’s point about just because they’re family doesn’t mean they need to be in the photo. I almost see dogs in photos as props in the sense that they add a little extra to the photograph. Also, not all your photos have to include the dog, as that would be a little strange.

We had our dog in ours, but only for a few.  And those are some of my most favorite pictures from our e-pics.  We wanted to have him in our wedding somehow and knew he wouldn’t be at our wedding, haha, so we thought our e-pic session was the perfect place for him to be included.

We brought our dogs!  I’m so glad we did…now we have ‘family’ pics.  That said, we had already sent out our save-the-dates so I wasn’t really sure what we were going to do with like 30 different poses of us, so it’s definitely a personal decision I think!  We still got some great shots of just the two of us.

We didn’t have our puppy in our e-pics, but our wedding photographer offered free puppy pics when we got her:

Good choice, my wedding is going to be at my family’s ranch, so my dogs are for sure going to be around for the day of- they’re part of my life and go everywhere with me, why not include them in the festivities? My rotty is a brides best friend- she listens to me rant when no one else will!

We want to do this too! But only in a few pics, not the entire photo-session! We adopted our 3 1/2 year old Schnoodle 2 1/2 months ago! He’s OUR baby!

It’s soooo not lame:

ETA: We only did it in a few photos! But damn are they ever cute, and I would suggest anyone do it with their pups. Great memories!

I understand pets in family pictures but not engagement photos. You aren’t marrying your dog.

I love the engagement pictures with couple’s dogs included. Our dog is our baby and a part of our family so if we had done engagement photos we probably would have included him in at least a couple 🙂

Oh, come on! Nobody would think the couple is “marrying their dog.” I love the pictures people have posted here. If you can take pictures of a couple riding bikes or shopping or eating or any other hobby they share as a couple, why not engagement photos with them hanging with their dog(s)? It’s another activity you share as a couple. I say go for it.

@dmcanespy: the pictures are beautiful and I certainly hope nobody for any reason would think a couple was having a 3-way marriage with their dog… I simply think that those look more like family photos than engagement photos

@kingytobe: I totally think of those as family photos!! I just think of the “family photos” lumped in with the engagement photos! 😉 two photoshoots in one? ooooh we’re sneaky!!!! 🙂
