We are in TN, but the photographer is just charging $250 for the engagement photo session. That doesn’t include pictures, though.   Sometimes the photographer will actually do the engagement photo as part of your wedding package.

We are paying $300/hr in key west. I think some photographers will give you a deal if you are using them as your wedding photographer also!

I live in South Carolina, so cost over here won’t help you, but I wanted to make a suggestion. If you’re able to find a wedding photographer that you want to book, you can see if they’ll do your engagement photos for free or at a discount as a part of the overall photography package. Also you can use the opportunity to get to know the photographer and see if they’re a good fit for your wedding photos.

sassysmom :  where in TN are you? (If you don’t mind sharing) Curious if it’s roughly the same all over TN.

kyriebee :  area where you live matters – i’m sure you’re going to get a bunch of low quotes here for people in like, iowa. i live in NYC (so another HCOLA) and our photog was $600 for the engagement shoot (roughly 2 hours, got maybe 300 edited pics)

I got ours for $46 on Groupon and they look amazing! We had a 90 minute shoot and got digital rights to them as well.

Our photographer is the girlfriend of one of the groomsmen. She’s a hobby photographer who does amazing work, she currently lives in Sonoma and has done several weddings. She did our engagement session for $100, wedding is $800 for all day. She gives you every photo she takes, plus professional edits. If you want her info you can PM me 🙂

In NYC we paid $500 for a 2hr session and that’s considered affordable. Since NYC is at the high point for most wedding stuff (Lucky me -__-) maybe that’ll help you know when a quote is TOO high.

My photographer offered to do them for $75 when we booked her for the wedding. My mom actually had already taken some shots just on our own that we loved so we decided to forgo this option, but it was a great deal. I’m in Milwaukee, so I’m sure pricing doesn’t translate but the average is probably more like $250-300 here.

Southern California here, and our photographer charges $500 to add on engagement photos, and that includes edited digital pics given to us with usage rights. He also has no travel fees anywhere within So Cal, so considering that, I thought his price was very reasonable.

kyriebee :  Our engagement session was included in our Wedding Package, but I know that for a normal full session (1.5 hours) with our photographer it is $500, including all digital images. I am in the Twin Cities in MN.
