So my Fiance and I are taking our engagement pictures this Saturday and I have no idea what to do with my hair or my makeup. My hair is shoulder length and I have no idea how to do it or what colors to use for eye shadow. I don’t wear foundation. I do like my eye liner and mascara haha! Please help!

Just go for a natural every day look. You don’t want to look to over done or not like yourself. I would suggest applying a little more makeup than you usually do. It photographs a lot better. 🙂

Go with the same colors you’d normally do, but heavier so that it shows up on camera. I felt like a clown looking in the mirror, but it came out JUST noticeable on the images.

@keshifflett: I went to the mall before getting my pics done and had my makeup done professionally. If you tell them that you are doing photos and want to look natural, they can make that work. I had to request a few changes to make it look more like my normal style, but I thought it turned out really well.
I think it cost $40 to do my makeup. If you go to Sephora or The Bay or some other department store makeup counter, generally you can get your makeup done free if you buy a certain amount of product. Sephora does it for free if you buy $50, and that’s so easy to do. You could even buy a gift card with the amount you have to spend and give it away for Christmas! Best to book that in advance though to make sure they have an artist on staff.

Go for natural colors (neutral eye shadow, etc.) but put on a lot of blush. You will feel like a clown, but it looks good in the pictures trust me. Put liner in your brows, unless they are very dark and thick. I have dark brown brows, but still had to line them and I don’t regret it because they lightened somehow in the pictures. Wear lipliner to keep your lipstick on, do wear some kind of color on your lips, again they will wash out under the camera.
Wear your hair how you always wear it, the engagement pictures are about showing your love for one another in a (posed!) natural light. Now the wedding, thats when you get your hair done.
Oh make sure you get a manicure though, there will be TONS of pictures of your hand and if you have any Scottish ancestry like I do, wax your knuckles. High resolution cameras are not friendly!
