@amandaandzachwed:  I just had my TTD shoot and my female photographer failed to tell me that a huge chunk of my hair (trial upstyle for my wedding) had fallen out or when I had side boob fat (which is in a lot of pics) or that I look like a fatty fat fat in a few of them.

I dont want to steal your thread but you can see pics here :

I think they turned out great but I at least know what you mean when you say you think a woman would’ve done better. Women understand a woman’s insecurities and might choose angles more carefully then a male photographer. But not in every case. Generally speaking you can expect that a true professional photographer studied their craft and is aware of these “issues” in their subjects. All that aside though, like i said i think you guys look great!! 🙂

I don’t see any of what you see! I think they look awesome, and I love the pumpkin patch theme. You look beautiful and your Fiance looks happy to be there.

@amandaandzachwed:

I think you look awesome, the photos are fantastic!

I disagree with your statement about female photographers being better able to understand flattering angles…

Our photographer was a guy, and was very good at telling me to look up, to avoid a “double-chin” look because I kept putting my head at a bad angle. He also was great about telling me when a piece of my hair got caught in my veil and looked funny, and after about 10 “getting ready” photos he was like “OH! You have a hair thing on your wrist, can you take that off?”  So it wasn’t the FIRST thing he noticed, but he did catch it before I did!!  He was great, and super attentive to detail and insecurities… my girls and I got ready in little robes, and I was soooo nervous about having a male photographer see us like that… but he was totally respectful, professional, and personable. None of us felt awkward at all around him, and he was great about making sure we were all at our best angles.

On the other hand, a friend of mine who got married had a female photographer who didn’t point out her bridesmaid’s mascara was running, didn’t point out that her veil pulled on her hair and her hair looked ridiculous in the cocktail hour photos (she removed the veil after the ceremony), and a lot of her photos were at such an angle that she looked pregnant, even though she’s a size 4.

Soo gender doesn’t necessarily mean more or less aware of flattering angles… that’s got more to do with the skill of the photographer! 🙂  And FWIW, I think your photographer did a great job! You’re beautiful, and you both look so happy!

Aw.I really love these pics. Especially the hay bale and pumpkin ones. You are beautiful!! Way to go with your weight loss, too! You and Fiance look very happy. I do hope your friend’s retouching will make you more pleased bc I can imagine how disappointed you are.

@amandaandzachwed:  I really dont think they are bad photos or that a female could have done better….you look awesome….and I dont think you look as heavy as you think you do……I think part of it is that you are still seeing yourself in pictures like you would if they were of you before the weight loss…..believe me….ive been there….when i was in highschool right before senior year i lost 80 lbs….and thought wow im in this new size 12, i can fit all these clothes….but i never started to LOVE MYSELF….so when I saw the pictures and I saw what my body looked like on film….i broke down…i HATED them….but i wasnt really seeing myself in the pictures….all i could look at was what I had LEFT to loose, and tone in MY HEAD! and In my head my picture of myself was not pretty…..

but now that I have gained the weight back and look at the pictures all I see is how good i looked in a size 12…..

what I am saying is….are there probably some unflattering angles yes….could they be edited to better and done at different angles to look slightly better….yes of course

Are you being your worst critic….ABSOLUTELY….love yourself and your new body….because until that moment you could weigh 98 lbs and all you will see is what you consider your imperfections….you look awesome…and fluctuations in weight are difficult even the weight loss to see what you look like now….because you still have the old you burned in your head….

and for what its worth some of the shortness may have come from the choice of boot and the red sock? comming over the top….in my experience they really make most women look shorter when they wear boots like that…if your worried about elongating….id wear boots under the pant leg or some great pumps….so it dosent cut your leg off at the knee…

You look beautiful and the photos are great. They have been edited in some way as they don’t naturally end up with this. If you would prefer to have some more editing you should communicate that to the photographer. When they say they are great it means no one is blinking, blurred etc… that they can be used and edited.

They are awesome, and you guys look happy. If you retouch them too much, you won’t look like yourself anymore! And YOU are engaged! Take a deep breath, they are great pics!
