I started researching erings, and became really interested in gemstone rings. I’m thinking about getting a blue topaz ring, as thats my bfs birthstone, but am having a really hard time deciding if its how we should go. What does everyone think? are they weird or tacky? will it last, is it resilient? any input could help… this is the link for one similar to the one im looking at

A lot of members here have Topaz and Aquamarine rings. Some blue, some colourless.
If you do some searching I’m sure you’ll come up with them, as far as I know they are pretty durable (around 7-8 hardness or so)

From Google: “It is generally very hard earning an 8 on the Moh’s hardness scales, however because of its near perfect cleavage, it can fracture extremely easily. It is important if you wear Topaz often, to be very gentle with it and protect it from hard impacts.
I think it would be really cool! I loove the one you posted. There’s also tonnss on Gemvara that are gorgeous. I’ve linked to that site so many times.. let me find one.
And they have a lot of customizeable matching wedding bands!

I looooooooove gemstone rings. My Fiance does not so I have a diamond, but I think blue topaz would be a great choice because of the significance of it being your SO’s birthstone AND it’s durable! Like PP said Gemvara is a great place because they have so many styles and you can get any gemstone in any of the styles. I play on there for hours sometimes because I feel deprived of gemstone rings. I finally bought myself one for my right hand because I couldn’t stand it. 🙂 I also have a friend that has a gorgeous pink topaz e-ring.

I wanted a gemstone ring (or one with colored gems in it), but Fiance had other ideas. I think Kate Middleton will help turn around the whole diamonds only thing, not that I pay attention to the royal family much.

I thought about a blue or pink sapphire but then I felt like it wouldnt go with every color outfit and nail polish so now I am back to square one on my search
