Do you specifically want a diamond or is it the setting that you really like? You can always use white sapphire or moissanite (both look similar to diamonds) in the same setting as the one you love.

@renwoman:  I fell in love with a setting. The jewelry store had a CZ in it for display purposes, and we just left it in there for now. That might be something to consider–you can get an ethical diamond, or a moissy or whatever you want later, but be able to enjoy your dream setting with the stand in, cruelty-free stone right away.

@renwoman:  I’d just be honest. Talk about it over dinner or coffee and tell him how you really feel. Mention how important the setting is to you and that you would be willing to compromise the diamond for a different stone. If money is a factor maybe he could wait a couple more months so he could save a little more money?

@renwoman: As she said. If the cost is still too high for that setting…. go to bidz.com we got my ring for 90% off the price, although its more of an àct now item since its an auction it works great, you can see other settings and when you find one you love you can go for it up to the max budget 🙂
