Wow I would be livid! I think I might return it if I were you and find a different place to buy a ring. If you have had this much trouble with the ring and store in this short a time, imaging how it will hold up the rest of your life… I’m so sorry you have to go through that!

@MayNunez:  I don’t know if I would wear it with all that damage.  Disappointing though.  Definitely take photos!!  Do you have insurance on it?

I would definitely return it, that’s awful to have to deal with.

I say return it and get seomthing like it somewhere else. It sounds like a bad company to deal with, and you JUST got it. If it had been years and years, I would still be mad but a little more understanding. I think that is unacceptable craftsmanship and it should be returned.

Oh, to post a picture you go to where you would type your response and there’s a little box with a + in front of it [next to HTML]. You click that and it guides you through the process.

I would return it before you have more problems, and buy a new ring from somewhere with more reliable service. I’m sorry this happened to you 🙁

Yes, definitely return! It shouldn’t have come back damaged like that when all they were doing was resizing it. I just had my wedding band resized and it did take a long time to come back (lil over 3 wks!)and that was long enough for me, but i had decided not to put a rush on that order. But it definitely didn’t come back damaged, in fact it was nice and shiny again (i could tell that they hecka cleaned it!)

I am so sorry this happened to you 🙁 I would hate the awkward potential confrontation of taking it back to the store too, even though it’s obviously completely reasonable, but maybe ask your fiance to do it and get him to put an emphasis on how this was supposed to be a huge surprise for you and a ring that will mean something to both of you forever and stand the test of time etc, yet in mere days the ring has literally been half destroyed.

If you are truly in love with it, perhaps demand to know why it was handled with such poor care. If it was a one-off kind of thing (I don’t know, maybe they had a novice do it that day) and they can guarantee to bring it back to its rightul condition, you could consider just going with it. If you have insurance, it should hopefully cover anything that might happen to it in future. But at the very least they should fix the ring for free and I am almost sure you’re also well within your consumer rights to return something that is clearly faulty, plus if they know what’s good for their business, they won’t want to tarnish their name by being unreasonable.

Hope you manage to work this out, and congratulations on your engagement 🙂

I got my ring on Sunday, and on Wednesday (the first time I was outside with it) I noticed the center diamond was cracked (it was not like that when we picked ot the diamond).  We called my jeweler and I am taking it back on Mon. and they are replacing my center stone.  That is the kind of service you should receive (I am still wearing my ring this weekend).  Hopefully things will work out.
