I can’t answer your poll because my FI never told me how much my e-ring cost. When we combine our finances right before the wedding we’ll probably talk about it… But I think he spent ~$1500 to $2000.

One thing I want to caution you about is that you may fall in love with an expensive wedding band too – or the wedding band that matches the ring you love may be expensive. I really really want an eternity band (with small pave diamonds all the way around the band) and it is costing us a pretty penny. My FI has said it will cost more than the e-ring cost. Just keep that in mind! I’m not trying to discourage you, just rememebr that you are going to have a lot of expensive things coming up!

I’m definitely not “typical”: my ring actually cost under $100. It was the ring I fell in love with and my fiance and I are both veryvery thrifty, and we have priorities other than jewerly. But when it comes to your engagement ring, I definitely believe it’s a personal decision between you and your SO. Some people are willing to spend a lot and some not so much–I would look at lots of rings you like and give him options in different price ranges so he knows he doesn’t HAVE to spend a ton if he doesn’t have the money, but if he can afford it, he would probably be willing to spend it. And I’m sure it’ll be beautiful no matter what ring you end up getting!

He wanted to get a $3500 ring, but I said NO. I did love it, but I just couldn’t, and I knew that he couldn’t afford it. My ring ended up being under $1000.

We didn’t really have a budget so I didn’t answer the poll. And I’m not really sure how much my fiance spent but I’m sure it was less than $1000. But we were using heirloom rings so we had a head start.

Mine was just under $5k.  It’s a .94 G VVS2 Radiant Cut solitare with a solid white gold band.

I have no clue how much my Fiance spent and I don’t want to know. It’s a solitaire 1.2 emerald cut diamond with a platinum band. We got it at the Mart here so he got it whole sale instead of  paying some marked up jewelers price, but I still have no idea of the price.
