prettyinpinkish : “I picked a site that conflicted with my lifestyle(being open ect )and personality( awkward and silly af) so no one would actually catch on to the sarcastism (sic) resulting in super negative/abrasive at me”
So you’re saying you were intentionally misleading in order to be ripped a new one and hear POVs opposite to your own over and over. And this will somehow help you process? FWIW, I don’t believe that for a minute.
If your real issue was your SO’s bad mood and heavy work schedule, all you had to do is say so. You might have been surprised at the constructive suggestions you would have received.

sassy411 : Your trying so hard to argue with me over nothing, but whatever, might as well do a psa . I never said all animals can be service animals, I said that mini horse have the ablilty to be service animals and I guess you missed the part about me being buddys with a trainer who specializes in psych service animals, which brings me back to, did you even read my first reponse….?
To answer what I am assuming is a question, the process starts at a young age, there are a few temperment test you can do a 8 weeks and then agian at 12 weeks to weed out certain traits like high prey drives and over assertiveness/dominance(this only applies to dogs). After that there is normal training, regardless of the type of animal your dealing with. You want to socialize because ideally you will have it take the public access test at 1 year. Even then, with a passing grade that just mean they are considered for candidacy.
Which is just means that they have a chance and appear to have the correct temperment for service work, after that there is about 1 to 2 years of additional training in which case most animals don’t make the cut. That is in general, the tricky part with psych service animals is that they need exposure to their user to be useful. Though training your own service animal isn’t a good idea, you should be a major part of the process of any of the task require the animal to get a read on you or you responses.
I will mention it is extremely hard to find a trainer who know what the hell they are doing and normal trainers don’t cut it most of the time. I have someone locally that I found after like a year of looking and interviewing people.
The programs I mentioned before that charge 10k+ match to the user with an animal post verifying that it will work as a service animal(so it’s atleast 2 years old) and then they work with the user and animal for up to a year to customize task and allow the animal too get used to the user.
Aniexty, panic, flashback, nightmares, and other afflictions requiring a task look different in most people hence the the additional training. Standard Poodles are super popular but there are tons of programs that pull from the local shelters which in my opinion is likely the best option if your looking for a healthy animal with a decent life expectancy.
Most breeders (which I hate anyone who does this, which I don’t use that word lightly) offload puppies by 10 weeks with bs temperament test claiming that the animal is suited for service work. Some offer additional training but still offload at 10 weeks which is bullshit and I wish their were some kind of consumer protections here but there aren’t.
There is no way to tell if the animal is a good candidate until a year at the least, depending on the animal it may take up to 3 years since full maturity is kind of a requirement to be consider a full blown and that varies by breed. Now techincally, beside there formention test, there are guidelines as to what makes a dog a service animal but no true regulations which is how the asshole breeders get away with this shit.
So hopefully that clears up whatever it is your confused on? I know you just really want to argue for so reason but you have yet to disagree with me on anything and have just been asking for more information to find so me thing to disagree on.
Though is you aren’t just being rude for the sake of it and interested in the subject, I have a list of sites that are super informative that I can give you.
I don’t expect everybody to have this information because if you have this information it likely means you or someone you love suffers from an affliction that requires a service animal to function which is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Honestly I hope you are done being insensitive and dragging this conversation out for no other reason then to be antagonizing, because I am tried and thinking about dog breeders is one of the few things that send me into a silent rage so I would rather just give you the sources if you have questions and move on.
Despite all of that I do hope you a nice day.
