Yeah, those prongs are definitely wonky :/ Sorry, bee.

The prongs definitely look off to me. Don’t be taken advantage of by a family member, even if he didn’t do it intentionally. Kindly point out the flaws to him and either ask for a refund or see if they can be fixed.

I have a BE ring and I can’t say enough about the incredible quality of their work. I understand not wanting to buy a diamond online, but I got a lab sapphire and it’s amazing quality.

Good luck 🙂

Doesn’t look like a good quality piece. To me, the gold craftsmanship and detail is very important, I would feel upset, too. If the prongs are wonky, that’s already a good reason to go back and do something about it.

Can you keep the diamond and have it set into the Brilliant Earth setting you originally wanted?

Yeah, the prongs are not right – it looks like the cutouts are also not in the proper place so the stone is not going to be very secure. As for rest of the ring, the finishing looks very poor. Almost like it just came out of the casting and they plunked it in the box!

The yellow gold spot sounds like solder. They did not match it properly to the metals used.

I would not even call that milgrain! New milgrain can be a bit more prominent – a lot of its “softness” comes from wear. Some also do milgrain better than others, or people prefer finer or heavier milgrain (I prefer it to be fine). But that just looks like they tried to edge it like you would a pie! I am sorry as I know it is your ring but that “milgrain” looks terrible.

I would not be happy with that ring AT all and I would not give them another chance, this is not a minor little issue to fix, this is the fact they tried to sell you incredibly shoddy work in the first place.

What are your FIs hesitancies about buying online? There are many wonderful vendors and buyers with great experiences.

I usually don’t see the flaws when people post boards like this.  However, in this case those prongs look way off!  I don’t know if it is partically due to the angle of the photo or not, but I would not be happy with that.  I’d bring it back and get a ring someplace else.

I usually dont notice small things like this when people mention them, and I honestly think the bride is being picky or high maintenance…but in this case it is VERY noticable and I would be upset too! Esp if your boyfriend spends money on a ring, it should be of quality that he pays for! Even though it is family, I would ask them to correct the flaws or just return for a full refund and go elsewhere…

Sorry, Bee, I would be very disappointed with this ring too. It looks like very poor quality craftsmanship and makes the ring look cheap. Please get a full refund and go somewhere else. If you try to have them fix this I sincerely don’t believe they will be able to do so based on the quality of this ring, and you’ll be in for a lot more problems.

Relative or not, someone took money for a product and what they delivered is not good quality. They need to fix it or return the money.

We got a custom setting made for my ring and the first version had areas that hadn’t been properly smoothed and it turned out that the prongs were too thin and my stone came out. We sent it back to the jeweler and he completely replaced the setting and did a beautiful job with it.

Your ring is beautiful. It just needs to be corrected (and by the person who took money for it unless they are unable to do so). I was concerned about “not feeling happy to look back on this time” but it’s really not that serious- you will be wearing your ring for much longer than this process takes and once it’s right you’ll be so pleased with it that these few bumps along the way fade.
