So my Fiance proposed 3 weeks ago with a beautiful ring he purchased from Zales (it was a bridal set). He didn’t know my exact size, so he went ahead and got their generic Size 7 since he wanted to have a ring for the proposal. However, it was way too big for me. We went to the store the next day to have it sized, but since I’m a size 4.5, they would have to special order a new one since the 7 cannot be sized down to 4.5. They said it would take about 4 to 6 weeks (ugh) for it to come in. It has been 3 weeks and I’m just impatient!
I did a little Googling and have read HORRIBLE stories from people about Zales. Now I’m kind of worried. However, these people at the particular store are very helpful and nice, and friends who’ve done business with them recomended that store.
Has anyone ever special ordered a ring from them? Just wondering if the 4 to 6 weeks timeframe is really true (hoping it’s not and I would get my e-ring sooner).

We got our wedding bands from Zales – both had to be special ordered and I think we got them in that 4-6 week timeline. They called us when each ring arrived at the store. I have to say, I thought the staff was really nice at the store we went to. I was really happy with the whole experience. I can imagine the anticipation of the call!!

I’m sure if you google any store you’d find awful reviews….people tend to post reviews mainly when they have horrible things to say, because anger is a strong motivator.
I totally understand why you’re so impatient, but I’m sure it will come soon! 🙂

Special orders from jewlery stores take 6-8 weeks it can take less time if you are ordering something they make often but in a 4.5(which is a rare size) it will probably take the 6 weeks they quoted you or possibly longer.
Sorry I work for a jewlery store and there is honsestly no way to speed up the process

Congrats! I haven’t had a special order from Zales but I would assume 4-6 weeks is average when making a special order. I understand you are impatient as you want to wear it. I haven’t heard or experienced bad things from Zales but I have from Kays so stay away from there!!!

I didn’t have to special order my ring, but for what it’s worth they told me 2-3 weeks to get my ring sized and it was back in 4 days. Not to get your hopes up or anything!
Congrats by the way! 🙂

Hi- I have to respond to this because I just took what will be my wedding band that I bought preowned to be sized at Tiffany’s. The ring is a size 7 and I will need it to be sized down to a 4.5 as well- they said it will take 2 weeks just to get back to me with an “estimate”…they said if it is possible to resize it, it should cost $60- but if it is not possible, they will have to place all the stones into a new setting and that will cost $1800!!!! After reading your post, I am now expecting the latter will be the case, but I hope not! :(…Did Zales happen to tell you the smallest size they could resize it to without changing out the setting?

@Dell79: No they didn’t tell me. I think it just all depends on how the diamond(s) is set on the band. Below is a pic of my ring. As you can see, probably resizing more than 1 size down would break off the diamonds since I have more than one.

My ring from Zales’ online collection came in about four weeks, according to my fiance. It had to be sized down, but my fiance took it to our local jeweler for that. (I’m picky about the work getting done on my ring so I only will take it to them. They do all my mom’s work too.) Zales said it would have take a couple more weeks if they had had to resize it for me.
He said he had a good experiance with Zales online. I was nervous too when he told me where he had gotten it from (post the fact) because of what I had heard, but it was perfect. The ring box was crap though. He broke it before he even gave the ring to me.
