Moissanite or lab created gemstones. Morganite and toumaline are beautiful also if you love pink. Check out outlet stores also. Ultra diamonds and Zales have outlets!

You can also check out Sam’s Club and Costco for diamond and gemstone rings.

@FrillSeeker:  I think that site is confusing because they sell their brand of stimulants “nuediamonds” and they apparantly also carry actual lab diamonds, but they lab diamonds are not listed on the site. Their rings definetly come with their brand of Sims though, they say their price for lab diamonds is about $3500 a carat.

One of my friends had a 1ct solitaire moissanite! And she is ALSO a high school /science/physics teacher!

It is SO gorgeous and SO classy! I never questioned that it was a diamond until she told me!

@ayirk723:  Hi there! What is your budget like?

Unlike you, I wanted a diamond, but Fiance wasn’t made of money so… He went out and got me this:

It’s a .31 center stone, finger size 5.5

Fiance always jokes ”thank goodness for your skinny fingers, it makes it look bigger”, lol.

It cost about $1900, taxes in. The contouring band was $462.

DH is by no means a bargain hunter… I am sure you could find something like this for even less, haha.

One day, when DH and I are in a better financial situation, he is going to get be a really nice anniversary band πŸ™‚

Remember that this isn’t going to be your last piece of jewellry πŸ˜‰

@VivienMarcheline:  Completely agree! Embrace the moissy or just wait. My Fiance and I met at University at 20 years of age. We have just been able to get engaged at 8 and a half years! We will be married on our tenth anniversary! Looking back, if I’d known about moissy, we would have been engaged a few years ago, but oh well. I’d get moissy and embrace it!!!! πŸ™‚ Or alternatively, maybe try and get a pawned ring?

@MrsSkeletonKey:  I think your ring is a beautiful look!

@ayirk723:  From what you’ve said, you want a larger look and a smaller diamond or other gemstone will not suit so I think moissanite is a good choice. Moissanite is durable and way cheaper than a similar sized high quality ethical diamond. I agree w/ the other bee’s that it’s better to embrace what you have however if  you want to try to pass it off as a diamond that is your perogative. (What would you tell your students though madam future teacher? Wink

Most people are not rude enough to question one’s ring at least not out loud..  As far as the meteor “story” you referenced, there’s only a modicum of truth to that, the rest is C&C’s (brilliant) marketing, I would not factor that into my decision.

Congrats on your engagment, Don’t forget to post a picture when you get it.

I got a moissanite as a “place holder” until I am ready to wear my grandma’s diamond (I just don’t feel comfortable carrying around a 2ct REAL diamond at 23!). So I got a Charles and Colvard Forever Brilliant Moissanite that was 2ct (cost $300) and put it on a .5ct pave diamond band. Now that I have it, and it sparkles like no other, I think I might keep it!! Also, my fiance loved the idea so much, he is getting a plain meteor wedding band! Which looks like silver, but has tiny flecks in it and is very unique looking. It also makes it a set πŸ™‚
