Hi everyone, I am newly engaged (he proposed with a beautiful vintage band as a “stand-in”) and we are looking at rings. I love vintage-looking rings and have become a big fan of Tacori, but they are so expensive and I am confused…
Basically i love a scalloped band, an intricate basket with at least 6 prongs, and no cathedral arms. I have found two options that I like, with one the engagement ring really shines on its own and the other the e-ring/wedding band set shines together.
Option #1: A vintage set, with the wedding band being more intricate, but I am not completely wild about the engagement ring on its own. The two together do kind of make my heart flutter, but I won’t be wearing the wedding band for two years! This is also up to $3000 cheaper than the Tacori.
Option#2: A custom Tacori engagement ring. I’ve photoshopped the band and head together that I would be mixing, so its not the best photo. This e-ring on its own makes my heart drop a little. I loooove the prongs and the scalloped band. I would probably get a plainer wedding band if I got this one. I would also go for a slightly smaller center diamond (.80 carat) to keep it more in budget, and the prongs are so intricate I feel like a smaller diamond would be okay anyway.
Any thoughts? Should the e-ring all on its own make my heart go pitter patter? (And should we spend the extra money?)

They don’t look that much different to me. Both are GORGEOUS!

I LOVE the first pic combo 🙂 I don’t see the need to spend more personally.

i like the scalloped band for both ering and wband.
have you seen the infinity bands? they remind me of the scalloped band.

They look exactly the same to me. IMO, it would be insane to spend the extra 3k on the Tacori.

They both look the same to me. And I wouldn’t pay that much for the Tacori – all you’re paying for there is the name anyway.

I prefer the vintage set.

I definitely would go with the vintage set. They look far too similar for me to justify an extra 3k, you’ll get a bigger diamond with the vintage set, and you’ll get to have a wedding band you really like!

<3 the vintage set personally.

I prefer the vintage set. It is stunning.

i like the first one – both alone and with the band! Although you will be without the band for 2 years, you’ll be with both for much longer than that!

Tacori is not worth $3K more in my opinion. The vintage set is beautiful and the ering looks just as good as the Tacori.
I had to wait to wear my wedding band in order for my wedding set to represent the look I wanted. I have a solitaire ering which is kind of boring on it’s own but looks much better dressed up with my diamond band! If I had gotten a blingyer ering I think with the wedding band it would be too much for me.

I think the tacori is slightly better, but not enough to warrent the price difference. Get the vintage set.

I love both, and agree with PPs that there aren’t many differences between the 2 that justify spending the extra (and #1 is gorgeous!!). Having a larger center stone seems like it would be (long term) a better investment than a more expensive setting. I actually have a custom Tacori setting that I LOVE, but I will tell you that the custom route gets pretty expensive with them and that whenver you want maintenence done it takes them a loooong time to get it done (I had a platinum, knife edge band before resetting in a Tacori and it was easier to maintain).
