Engagement rings aren’t the problem though. It’s diamonds that are the problem. Yes, everything has an assigned cost, but it’s typically not a price that was just invented. The price of items are usually the result of supply and demand. The issue I have with diamonds is the artificial inflation. I wish they cost a fair ammount. 

I only buy diamonds second hand to avoid paying such a huge markup.

Oh and the difference between sapphires, rubies etc and diamonds is obvious; they cost what they cost based on supply and demand. The cost is legitimate and justified.

Everything you buy/consume has a price – some things are worth it to some people – others not so much – if my husband wasn’t such a traditional kind of guy, I would probably have gone without the ering
