My Fiancé’s aunt offered to pay for our pictures because she knew of a photographer through work. Well it was the worst experience ever!! The woman had no original thought she kept refering to Pinterest the entire time and basically recreated pics from there. She took about 150 photos but within all of them we basically had 5 different poses. THEY WERE ALL THE SAME!! She also kept nagging me to “like” and leave comments on the picture she put on facebook after I repeatedly told her I didn’t want our families seeing the pictures before our save the dates go out (that was the entire purpose of the engagement shoot) After I told her I wasn’t happy with the pictures she became totally defensive and started blaming me saying I wore the wrong clothes and told me she couldn’t wait for the session to be over so she can be done with me. That’s extremely professional….I am jealous of all the beautiful engagement pictures all over this site. We had a few “ok” pictures but we were just expecting more. We are no models and I for one feel so uncomfortable in front of a camera so we expected direction (which I got from my fiancé more than the “professional”) Did anyone else have issues like this?

@future-mrs: Hopefully you’re not using this same lady as your WEDDING photographer?
Since your aunt had paid for that first engagement session, you now have time to find and pay a different photographer whose style and personality you actually admire and click with (no pun intended) …and treat yourselves to another engagement session!

We had that experience with a photographer too. First it was the location (which he had shown us pictures he shot at that SAME location before) then it was the way we were dressed. It was kinda ridiculous. I decided I wasn’t taking the risk having the same problem with the wedding pictures, and even though Fiance and I lost our deposit with him, we found an AMAZING couple that we had a great time shooting with, and the pictures came out amazing too! (P.S a few months ago, Fiance and I saw on FB that the original photographer needed a second shooter for a wedding he was doing. When we interviewed him he told us he had set, professional photographers that he shot with..and yet he was just asking people on FB if they wanted to shoot with him…it was definitely worth losing the deposit to get photographers that we are comfortable with, LOVED the pictures, and are excited to work with again!
