bcwrackspurt :  Ok I love this thread because my nails were a hot mess when he proposed. So I had polish on my nails for an event earlier in the week. I never wear nail polish on my fingers and I hate it so there’s that. We were about to leave on a weekend trip to the beach and were getting in the car. My nails were horribly chipped and I said “hold on, I want to go get remover so I can take this off on the way there.” I went to get it and got back in the car with nail polish remover and cotton balls. He asked me if I forgot anything like 12 times and was being so persistent. I said “Why, did you think of something?” and he asked me to marry him! In the car, sitting in the driveway, as I was about to take off my horrible nail polish lol. I had chipped nails and right after, took it off so I had none!

Do what makes you happy. Maybe just go get some polish the day before for pictures if you want to? If not, I didn’t! Don’t feel obligated.

(I knew my proposal was going to be within a week span, but didn’t know exactly what day. Fiance took way too long to propose that week, it was at the very end!)

bcwrackspurt :  I knew when he bought the ring but I didn’t know when he would propose, and I did not have my nails done since I didn’t know. I don’t feel like people HAVE to get them done. I am usually sans nail polish. 😀 I’m getting mine done for the wedding. I did get them done for my bridal shower, but they looked terrible so I might do a natural nail.

bcwrackspurt :  Haha, I tend to be a practical person in general.

Thanks! The gemstone is a padparadsha.

bcwrackspurt :  I didn’t. In fact, I’ve only had my nails done once since getting engaged, and that was for the engagement pictures. I don’t do nail polish, and I wasn’t expecting the proposal, so it doesn’t seem that unusual for me to go without

bcwrackspurt :  I hardly ever get my fingernails painted, so naturally they weren’t done when Fiance proposed. I kind of wish I had filed them down a bit, but oh well! If I did it again, I would keep my natural nails

is_a_belle :  your ring is BEAUTIFUL!

I knew my engagement was coming (FI didn’t know I knew) but I didn’t get my nails done. I’ve never had them professionally done, actually. My first time will be for our engagement photos next month!

Im pretty new here. I generally dont get my nails done (more my toenails) but I’ll catch a wildhair and get them done.  I did not know I was getting engaged so I did not get my nails done.  If you don’t want to, just get a nice manicure with no polish. My ring the day of and after I received it…which was this Friday and Saturday.

I never wear nail polish, so for my engagement photos I wasn’t wearing any nail polish.

i didn’t know he’d propose when he did, so

I didn’t, but that’s because I’m not super girly anyway. I hardly wear nail polish or acrylics, I wear makeup three times a week at most. Like OP, I seldom wear jewellery even though I’ve got a lot of piercings.

bcwrackspurt :  I didn’t know about the proposal but probably wouldn’t have gotten them professionally done for that. Definitely would have put a tad more effort into grooming them tho haha

I did get them done for our engsengage photos.

I’m also one who never wears nail polish haha
