We actually got married on the day we got engaged – one year later!  Best celebration ever!

We were married exactly 6 months after the proposal- Friday the 13th, which is *really* easy to remember.

We made comments- “We’ve been engaged a month,” etc., but we never “celebrated” it.

It’s a tradition in my family to celebrate it, started by my oldest brother (the first married). We call it the askiversary.

It’s not really a big deal. Maybe an excuse for a nicer date than usual or some flowers. Everyone in the family wishes you a happy askiversary. But it definitely helps liven up our relationships, to make a big deal out of an otherwise normal day!

    Christmas? Sure do! Wink

I’m sure that we would not have celebrated it even if it had been a normal day, though.

We we had been engaged a month i made a nice dinner and bought a little cake for us to share and made him a card which said how excited i was to marry him.

I just thought it would be nice to take a moment away from the whirlwind of planning to appreciate things.
