I don’t have insurance on mine since he had it custom made with a small jeweler. We tried to add it to our homeowner’s insurance and the state of FL no longer allows you to do so. Any suggestions as to where I can try to insure it?

I took out a separate insurance policy for the ring. They told me that it’s easier to do that rather than put it under my homeowner’s policy. So, does the company offer something like that?

Can you do a “rider” to your homeowner’s policy for the ring? The benefit to that is that you can often get a bit of a discount since you’re going through your existing insurance company.

My FH looked into all the options via homeowners, its a new policy in FL not to insure, and all of my friends were previously engaged or married so have their’s through homeowner’s.

My Fiance used Esurance (or a company that is affilidated with them), since that’s who our car insurance is through. I believe we got a discount that way, for using the same company as our car insurance, rather than a discount through homeowners.

We are putting it on our homeowners ins.

@Cola Thanks for the suggestion! Our car insurance is through Esurance also so I’m going to look into them 🙂

We did a rider on our renters insurance. It was actually really easy so I’m not sure about those people who say it’s harder than getting a new policy. I just told them how much my jewelry is and they wrote the policy.

I was moving around a little between getting engaged and then getting married, so I got insurance through a private jewelry insurance company. I just needed the appraisal we got from our jeweler and I’m covered. I haven’t had any problems with my ring that our jeweler wouldn’t fix for free, so I don’t know how good my insurance actually is…

you can most definitely get an extra policy to insure just your ring, it’s really affordable and it definitely is a safety net if something were to happen!

jewelers mutual – they have one of the best policies that I read.
