Hi!  I just registered here so that I can share with you my experience with moissaniteco. I ordered an 8mm (2ct diamond equivalent) amora enhanced moissanite last week and received it in 3 business days. When the stone arrived my boyfriend and I examined the stone under two different lightings, indoor flood lighting (bathroom) and flourescent (desk lamp).  Under the flood lighting, there were hints of yellow (buttery like mentioned previously in this thread) and under the flourescent lamp, the stone was so sparkly white.  Just a few days ago, I took the stone to my local jeweler to set it with 18 tiny side stones (F-G grade diamonds) totaling .4ct on platinum.  I didn’t particularly like any of the settings on moissaniteco and my ring size is a petite 3.5 so I didn’t want complications with refunds.  If they had the same setting then I would have totally gone all moissanite. Plus I read that the craftsmanship wasn’t great which was disappointing. So how does the amora enhanced moissanite stone look as the center stone with F-G side stones?  It looked good enough to me but I won’t really know until I receive the finished product in 3-4 weeks. I will post pictures here and get my sister’s 1.3ct grade G diamond solitaire ring to take some side by side comparison pictures. As an additional note, my jeweler weighed the moissanite and it was 1.61ct in diamond weight (as most know diamond is more dense). He also said the stone looked worse than an H. I personally can’t tell between an G and H but I definitely can tell that it is lower than an F.  To be continued with pics…

This may be a stupid question and I hope it doesn’t come off as rude…but are these rings worth anything? I mean are they considered valuable?

What makes them anymore valuable than CZ or other synthetic gem stones?

What is the appraisal hold value on rings like this?

@Miss Tattoo:  Your ring is beautiful!  What is the width of your band?  I’m going to guess 1.5 or 2mm.  Are the side stones moissanite as well?

@Miss Tattoo:  I spent all afternoon yesterday on the phone with Helzberg, Sears, Zales, JC Penny and Jared – NONE of them have moissanite in the store anymore! Do you (or does anyone else) know of some place where I can see moissanite (prefer treated, but untreated will definitely work) next to a real diamond? I’ve seen all the online pictures, but I just can’t quite convince my self or my Boyfriend or Best Friend without seeing the difference in person.

@Spanish Lace:  My only suggestion is to order a loose stone and then take it with you to a jewelry store to compare with a diamond.  If you don’t like the moissanite, you have 14 days to return it.

I can tell you from personal experience that MoissaniteCo.com DOES have very low quality stones. I received one that is very yellow, even under a white light. MoissaniteCo was very uncooperative. I called Charles and Colvard directly since there was no phone number for MoissaniteCo.com. Charles and Colvard gets dozens of complaints about them daily. I did get a Moissanite, but I used a more reputable site…one Charles and Colvard is proud to recommend.

This is what I’ve gathered from speaking with numerous people regarding them:

If you were sent a great piece from the start and have no issues, then people generally love them.

However everyone that I’ve spoken to agrees, if you had an issue with your ring, the customer is always wrong.

I wouldn’t trust a company that is not even confident enough to post their phone number on their website. I would also like to point out that MoissaniteCo.com posts on this forum, the last one I saw they were bashing Charles and Colvard–with lies.

I do want to state, if you had a great experience with them, and love your ring, then I am SO happy for you!! I absolutely LOVE my e-ring and will post pics when I can. I know that, like most of you I am incredibly happy when I look at it. Goodluck with whatever you choose!!

i was seriously considering an oval, until i saw allll the stunning round brilliants on here and realized that whiteness is a big deal for me. since the fancy cuts (oval included) show A LITTLE more color, i went with the round brilliant. love the ovals though, they look divine.

Thank you NessaNessa for your honest feedback. That is good to know personal experiences too. MoissaniteCo seems to be by far the largest Moissanite seller with the monopoly in the market.
