It’s been hard to follow the advice to “enjoy being engaged.” As it gets closer, it’s getting easier for me. As my girls drop hints about my bridal shower, I’m starting to feel like a bride and I’m so excited, although the day couldn’t get here fast enough!!

@tresim36:  You’ve got plenty of time.  Take it slow.  I found myself stressing when I tried to plan too far in advance.  Many aspects will not even be entertained too early.  Just enjoy browsing, “pinning”, and daydreaming!

Do your best not to go into crazy planning mode. Figure out which things need attention right now, then take a break–even if it’s just for a few days. If it gets really hard, try just taking one day (or even one evening) where you don’t do or talk about anything wedding-related. Use that time instead to just relax with your Fiance and remember why you’re doing the whole shebang in the first place!

I totally agree with bellasperanza. I’ve actually been stressed these 2 past two weeks than ever before! And maybe a couple of months ago lol. I think because it’s so close I have so many things to think about. This week i’ve been telling myself to only work on what I can and just leave wedding planning on hold for a night or two. I have to check myself and not argue with SO for no reason. I seriously can’t wait for the wedding to be here already.

I try to get my “wedding stuff” done weeknights after work when I’m still in “go” mode. This way when the weekend comes we can spend our time together doing the things that make us happy 🙂 This weekend we went to the zoo, went out to dinner, went to the farmers market, went dancing, and not once did we have to discuss all the things that need to be done. It has been lovely 🙂

Your wedding isn’t for almost a year and a half!! You don’t really have much to plan for a while, so do it slowly and savor it. I have loved being engaged and am glad I have another 13 months of it!
