I hope there are some bees out there who know more about paper and stationery than I do!
The invitations I want to send measure 5.5 x 7.5 in. I would like to use inner and outer envelopes but I am not sure what size I should be ordering. I have been looking at Cards and Pockets and they sell some designated inner and outer envelopes, but the sizes don’t seem right for my invitations. They also sell their inner envelopes without any adhesive to seal it. Is this normal for an inner envelope, and would it be odd if I used an inner envelope that did have the adhesive on it? Is it important to use designated inner and outer envelopes, or is it okay if I just order normal envelopes in two different sizes and use those?

the inner envelopes are usually just tucked in. i haven’t received an inner envelope in a long time, so don’t feel obligated to use both, unless you want to.
can you order a sample so you can make sure everything fits? or go to a stationary store to test out some envelopes.

I wouldn’t use an inner envelope personally. Is there a reason you want to use one?
Your invites are an odd size…you might have trouble finding inner and outer envelopes to fit.

Unless your invitations are super formal, I don’t think an inner envelope is nessecary

beevincent18 : I haven’t ordered them yet, so I could find different ones I suppose. I didn’t realize it was such an unusual size :/
I am using them because I am having a formal wedding, and I have a lot of very traditional relatives who will be expecting formal, traditional invitations.

sparkosity : 5×7 would be a much safer bet…you will definitely be able to find envelopes easily to fit those.
