@CatyLady:  It really is terrible at first, but when that original hair starts growing back, it seems much thinner and less painful to pull out. Following the advice about doing it right after a shower helps, too.

Oh God, I bought one by accident and used it once. It was a mistake. I had a hard time not getting my skin pinched in it. Seriously, I’d rather wax or shave. I think I handle pain well enough, but I…I honestly just don’t see the point of one.

@Raggedy_C-3PO:  I use one, on my legs and my bikini line (would never, ever use that thing all over my crotch though!!). I was using it on my underarms and gt a few weird infected bumps in one of them that are taking a long time to go away, so I figured shaving’s better for my underarms. It’s great on my legs and bikini line though! You just have to make sure you exfoliate with a brush or something almost every time you shower, and for a few days after you do it, especially at first, it’s best to put a salicylic acid toner on your skin.

It’s so much better than shaving, I think — I can go for a week without worrying about hair. And it does make the hair come in finer after a few times of using it.

Funny how you posted this– I found it just as I was thinking how I need to go epilate my legs right now!

I have a Panasonic epilator and I use it on my arms (curse those dark Latina hairs!).  It hurt at first but, like waxing and tweezing, you get used to the pain.  I will say though that I get my bikini area waxed and I cannot imagine epilating that area…yikes!! lol

This post inspired me to dig up the epilator I’ve had sitting in a drawer for the last couple of years 🙂

I used to really like it, but it never really gave me the silky smooth feeling that shaving did (even if that only lasted one day/until I got goosebumps!). But, my hair is so fine and blonde, that even if it just cuts down on the amount of hair, my legs look smooth.

It probably took me an hour to do my legs (midway up the thigh) just now, and I did take half of a pain pill in preparation. It hurt, but was tolerable. I’m kind of excited to see how they look tomorrow after I shower and exfoliate and moisturize- I’d love to be able to epilate occasionally instead of shaving every other day!!!

@Raggedy_C-3PO:  i’ve been using an epilator for YEARS now! I wanna say.. close to 3 years? I use mine for my hair under my arms. I have really dark hair so before, when I would shave it my under arms would just be so dark but ever since I started using the epilator, my under arms have never been whiter LOL (ps. it didn’t hurt at all my first time usint it and I only had to do it like once every other week)

i’ve never used it anywhere else though.

for everywhere else, i use sally hansen wax strips http://maydayunited.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Sally-Hansen-Waxing-Strips.jpg

never thought that stuff would be good until i tried it! zomg! it is Amazing!!!!
