I get why you’re upset.  At the same time, this is one of the major reasons I didn’t have a fall wedding – Fiance would have been at a bar trying to catch the score rather than at the reception, or on his phone getting the score!  Same goes for his family and most of this friends.  So we picked spring, because he agreed he could easily miss a weekend of potential baseball games.

ETA: I’d be upset too, because 3.5 hours is not too long.

That is not long…I have a friend who’s wedding is this November…on a Sunday. Ceremony starts at 230, then cocktail hour, then the reception goes literally ALL night…invitation says the bar closes at 2am! Now THAT is TOO long! you are FINE! Everyone has to find something to complain about don’t let it get to you

Lol yeah that’s actually shorter than most weddings. I got a lot of crap about our 45min ceremony. Stick with your plans, no matter what you do someone will complain!

That sounds like a perfect amount of time for a wedding. Most people have smartphones anyways, so they can check up on the game if they think it is absolutely necessary

Whaaat! That’s not long at all. And I’m sure most of them have smartphones so they can check in on the score if they really can’t wait.

Wow, every reception I’ve been to is FIVE hours, plus one additional hour if they add Venetian Hour (the dessert table).  3.5 hours is SHORT!  Tell them to SHOVE IT.

OMG! Who says that? I think it was pretty rude for that person to criticize your wedding for a dumb reason like that.  If they don’t want to miss a game well then they shouldn’t go to your wedding.

That’s not long at all!  Our ceremony’s going to be at 1 or 2 (haven’t quite decided yet) and the reception will go on until the wee hours of the morning!

I don’t think your wedding is too long, but as someone who was told explicitly by my Fiance that we couldn’t have a fall wedding, and that he hated being dragged to fall weddings, because then he ended up being rude by checking the score all the time — any way you could put a tv with the game(s) on? It can be on silent, but then you keep everyone engaged and having a good time.

I don’t think it’s long… And it’s one day…. they can play catch up after 7:00 pm when it’s all over!

That’s so rude! 🙁 On the other hand, maybe they’ll decline and you won’t have to pay for their dinners!

Wow… Mine is starting at 2pm and won’t be over until… Midnight!

Thats how they’re done over here in the UK- I couldn’t imagine going to a wedding that ended at 7pm!
