Hi! Here is a dumb question but I have no idea! Do we do escort/ name cards for the groom and me?
If yes, should I put my maiden name or my married name? Thanks!

@Cheeks225: I thought the cards were really so people knew where to sit! 🙂 I guess you could do ones for yourself, too! 🙂 I’d do married name, since you’ll be married at the reception!
no escort cards for you or the bridal party. You know where you’ll be sitting
@GroovyHippieChick: Our venue is using the color of the leaf to tell what entree people are having, so they will need to have nametags for the bridal party, right? What is the alternative?
We put first names only, and put couples together on one escort card. I figured less cost in paper and printing, and the ladies would be more likely to pick up their card than their dates, anyway. We also did escort cards for the entire bridal party. 😉
You don’t need escort cards for yourself, but if you have them, it should have your married name. You’ll be married by the reception!
We didn’t have escort cards for us, and the staff still figured out what we were eating. Actually, I’m not sure how they figured that out….
@Cheeks225: I would do escort cards for all the wedding party including the bride and groom if they are also indicating the choice of entree.
You can have them positioned at each place setting ahead of time. It will be one less thing for the girls to carry. It will also help to relieve some congestion around the escort card table.
We printed both escort and place cards for ourselves. I want to see my married name in black and white!
We had escort cards for ourselves so the catering staff would know which meal to serve us. I used my married name, since I was (even if only recently!) MARRIED!!!
@simplifiedbride: we did this too… cards for the bridal party and for us with first names only. It worked out great actually.
@julies1949: Thanks! That’s a great idea about having the party pre-set.
Put your maiden name, your name doesn’t automatically change the day you get married, you have to fill out the paper work firsdt, so your name would stay the same until those forms are completed and submitted. Unless you wanted to put Mrs His first and last name.
@drummerbride: I know technically it doesn’t, but what about all those receptions where the DJ announces “for the first time.. mr. and mrs. so and so”.
