Hi everyone! I’m a week a half out from my wedding (eeek!) and we’re just starting to write out the escort cards with table assignments. I was wondering how others have treated “+1” people whom you don’t have a name for… so Jane Doe is my friend and she didn’t give me her guests’ name.
Would you do for their place cards:
Jane Doe
Guest of Jane Doe
Thanks in advance for any advice or I’m happy to answer clarification questions if that doesn’t make sense. I have “wedding brain” right now!

I would just put Guest of Jane Doe.
OR if they’re someone you actually talk to, ask for their +1’s name! I got the names of my guests’ +1’s so that way they could feel a little more included and not just there.

Thank you! Yes, I had that same thought – I don’t want the cards to be so informal for the guests. I’ll try to figure out as many as I can (I was amazed at how many RSVPs didn’t include both people’s names – looks like I should have worded the RSVP a bit differently to get that information).
Thank you!

I called/texted/facebook everyone who had a +1 and got the persons name…it took some time but I liked the way it all turned out. But, Guest of Jane Doe is just fine.

Kc6882: As PP have said, just ask for the name. Or if it’s your mom’s second cousin’s friend or whatever, have your mom ask.

You call them and ask for the name of their guest.
I would feel incredibly uncomfortable if I were a guest at a wedding and the host didn’t even bother to take the 10 seconds to find out my name.

I’d find out the name as well. I’m in the process of doing this and it’s been a huge help. I wanted to avoid putting “guest of” if I could (although if you must, you must, and I don’t think that’s rude) and also, frankly, I just wanted to know who was going to be coming to my wedding haha.

Thank you everyone for your comments – they helped a lot. I did my cards last night and to my surprise, I didn’t have as many “unknowns” as I thought! So this morning I reached out to everyone that I needed to and easily got their names. 🙂
Thanks again!
