Depends on how they have to do it. My daughter’s gown had to have boning removed, cups sewn in, it had to be hemmed and bustled/pressed. It was $210. I had mine altered with bust taken in,sash removed, hemming and pressing, and mine was $75. They can be all over the place it seems to me.

Mine was a relatively plain strapless dress that needed hemmed and to be taken in several sizes – it cost $110 at a local seamstress

Is the bust area significantly large? If not, maybe she could just sew cups in — it would save her from having to deal with the beading. My dress had to be taken in through the bodice, skirt hemmed, and a bustle added – that was 250, but I don’t know the cost break-down!

Oh right, mine included a bustle too, but it was a simple one.

My alterations cost $270, but I had it taken in quite a bit (I have no butt…my boobs are a size 12 but my hips are a size 0 by wedding standards!  I have issues).  However, my dress does not have beading, so it is a simpler alteration.  I would think this evens out the pricing?

I would also assume my alterations are a bit pricier since I used the bridal shop and live in an expensive city.

Who knows.  I’m having mine takin in a slight bit at the top (it also has beading), the bottom hemmed and a bustle put it.  Mine costs $1,200.

I was estimated at around $100.00 to have the front of the dress shortened (its about one or two feet too long) and the bottice of the dress taken in (has a lot of beading on the bottice)  and having a bra built into it.  Local seamstress.  Hope thats helpfull.

My estimates in LA were :

$65 – bustle

$60 – hem

$20 – bra cups

?? – boning (can’t remember)

$250-300 – taking in the dress 2 sizes. My seamstress said that’s a lot more than her regular rate because of the manhours to remove all the extensive beading and sew them back on

Oh my I’m nervous about how much it is going to cost to have my dress altered. I’m not going to have that much done to it (hemming, bustle, and the straps taken up a bit) so I’m hoping it won’t be too much. ::sigh::

My alterations cost $400 (15-point bustle – yikes – and taking in at top). I think having it taken in cost $100. Boston seamstress.
