kbee123 :  I think that will be thick to the point of uncomfortable if the diamonds go past the top of your finger. I have an eternity ring with 3mm garnets, which would be the same size as .1 ct diamonds I think, so much smaller than you’re talking about, and I find the stones between my fingers and on the underside of my finger uncomfortable.  One of my friends has a half eternity channel set back as an enagement ring though and it looks really nice, probably around 3/4-1 ctw, but I’m just guessing. It’ not overly wide, she wears it with a plain wedding band.

Those diamonds are going to be HUGE for a band. That’s going to be a 6-6.6 mm WIDE band of diamonds. Just think how tall it’s going to be. 😳 That said. I have seen some gorgeous 5-7 stone bands on the bee as e rings. Hopefully they’ll chime in and show you pics with specs.

I inherited a 5 stone (1.25aprox ctw) wedding band and I have size 8 fingers and I think it looks good. You being a size 5 should be more than fine to have anywhere from 1-3 ctw band. Plus if it’s about practicality then getting a lower weight would make more sense I would think… comfort is key with eternity/half eternity bands. Bezel or channel set would be good for both durability and comfort, personally I prefer bezels (but I’m hard on my hands) 🙂

I think 80 pointers each stone is going to be huge especially for a full eternity band. I have an eternity band for a wedding band and it’s 30 pointers each and that’s already big.

I love the idea of an eternity as an engagement ring. I’ve just been wearing my eternity wedding band lately and it’s so comfy and easy. But mine is only about 0.50 tcw. I agree with PPs that I think 0.80 carat stones will be gigantic and far from practical. I feel like it’d stick up a lot and not be comfortable at all between your fingers. I also feel like you’d only be able to see maybe 3 stones across the top of your finger, which might be weird for an eternity.

Have you tried some on? If so, could you post some pics? Maybe my concerns aren’t legit.

What are you planning on getting as a wedding band? If another eternity band, I personally wouldn’t go above 0.5 or 0.6 cts. I also don’t really love the look of the above picture you posted above- I personally prefer the look of either a 3-stone ring or an eternity band. That one kind of looks like a strange hybrid of both, but that’s just my personal opinion. If you love it, you should try it on.

kbee123 :  I think a bezel or channel setting would be better. The ring shown on the models finger has the stones reaching to just between the fingers and you can see in the pic she can’t close her fingers completely. That won’ be comfortable, especially with prongs, but less bad with a smooth setting.

I think it will depend very much on the diameter of your finger. I think you seem to be attracted to 5 stone/half hoop style rings. If you like vintage, there’s a lot of vintage rings like this https://www.google.com/search?q=half+hoop+ring&client=firefox-b-1-ab&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj31pjtoZ_aAhVk4YMKHfXRDoUQsAQILg&biw=1600&bih=721

There are several women on here who have this type of ring. You might get better feedback (and more your style) if you ask for people who have 5 stone rings for their engagement ring.
