have any of you ladies been given an eternity-style ring as your engagement ring? I adore the style of these rings – how they don’t have a large stone – and i was wondering if any of you have used one as an e-ring?
I see a lot of wedding bands in this style which i think look incredible next to the larger e-rings, but i’m curious what others do for a wedding band if the engagement ring is eternity style.
I’d love to see some pictures or read some thoughts on this.

I know a girl who has a round center diamond and an eternity band on her e-ring…I love it!!! I was just thinking yesterday how I’d love if my e-ring band was eternity style. My jeweler doesn’t do 100% eternity, they do 70% eternity because they don’t like to remove diamonds to stretch rings after a woman has given birth or maybe gained weight. I plan on having a 70% eternity wedding band…love the look!

@ERsax: I think it was cakegal who did this. She had one eternity ring as her engagement ring, and a different style eternity as her wedding band. It’s a beautiful style, and one I considered going for a while.

@abirdword: I think you’re right – it was cakegal that did this. OP – if you do a search on her name you will see her fabulous set.
I didn’t do this but one of my coworkers recently did. She wanted a larger ring that her Fiance didn’t feel comfortable spending the money on. So she got a larger carat weight eternity band and she is planning on getting two smaller weight eternity bands for each side as her wedding bands. So she will have quite a stack once she is married.
I think it ‘s a great idea.

The idea of an eternity band style ring as an ering really appeals to me. They look awesome stacked with other bands too, so I it will amazing with a wedding band.

My day-of coordinator has an eternity band that was both her e-ring and her wedding band – instead of buying two separate rings, she and her hubby decided to keep it simple with one eternity band – she really liked the simple look. I think there’s nothing wrong with that!!

@ERsax: I think it’s a great idea! I really like the simple look and it would be more comfortable too. you could wear the ring in a larger size, so the fit is more loose and comfortable, but it won’t matter if it spins around!
I have slightly chubby fingers, and I think they look better with rings that are looser so they don’t get the dreaded muffin top. but a loosely fitting ring with a center stone means I have to straighten it more often.
(note however that if you opt for a prong setting, the bigger sizes can dig in to the middle & pinky fingers. I recommend bezel or channel set if you are going for comfort & simplicity.)
@country chic: I bet that will look stunning, and they probably did save a chunk of money!

I have a 1.75 tcw 7-stone semi-eternity band for my engagement ring and I love it. I get tons of compliments on it!!

@babu22: Ooooo, that’s a gorgeous look! Just out of curiosity, what’s the diameter of the stones?

I think that an eternity ring is a unique and gorgeous engagement ring! I love the idea of stacking the ring with your a different style eterity ring (or maybe even one with gemstones).
Nikki Reed has an eternity band as an engagement ring and it is really pretty!

@abirdword: thank you! I don’t actually know the diameter of the stones. It is a little wider than the 2mm plain band that I picked out as a wedding band to go with it. Each stone is about .25 ct, round brilliant cut, so if you have something similar, you could compare. I used my .25ct diamond earrings as a size gauge when trying to envision it.
For reference, my ring size is 5.75, and I have pretty big hands/long fingers, which is good because it’s a pretty substantial ring!

Its great to know that i’m not the only one thinking about this.
Also, cakegal seems to have deleted her account 🙁 Does anyone else have any photos of their eternity e-ring?

Here’s mine! I loved this idea cos I hate rings that stick up and catch on things and when they twist round and only the back is on view. Mine is 1.0 carat in platinum.

My cousin has a baguette half-eternity ring as her engagement ring and a diamond set band for her wedding ring.
She has a fairly hefty solitaire already which was a family heirloom and knew she didn’t want a large stone for her engagement ring.
