I have been browsing on etsy for a while now, usually for fun, but I found 3 items I want to purchase (1 for me, 2 are gifts). Either way, all items need to be customized so I need to contact each seller first. As far as payment goes I am familiar with paypal thanks to ebay so I’m not totally lost. The sellers all have great feedback too.
But since I’m chartering into unfamiliar territory, does anyone have any advice they can offer before I start contacting anyone?
Thanks a bunch.

I’m not really sure what sort of advise you’re looking for. Just contact the seller and explain what customization you’re looking for.
Payment through paypal is what I always use on Etsy.

If they have great feedback, convo the sellers and make sure you get a good feel from them. I’ve had great experiences with Etsy! I only had one problem with some cards that didn’t get delivered, but I got a full refund for them, so I’m not scarred by the experience or anything. Feedback is definitely the key to Etsy though 🙂
ETA – It’s also helpful to the sellers if you can provide as much info as possible in your convo and your zipcode so they can get you a quote on shipping.

@MASPA:I love etsy! My only advice is to read their policies ahead of time so that you know what they can and can’t do. My first time ordering I didn’t know that each seller had a page that outlined their policies, etc. and asked some redundant questions and my order was delayed a bit because of it. Also, see if any of the products you want to buy are made by another seller for a better price. It may help you get a more competitive rate from your seller. Have a good one. 🙂

@MASPA: Its actually alot easier than it can feel. I would message the seller, make sure they can customize it the way you want. If so, buy the product and wait for it to arrive! Simple as that! Everything I have purchased from Etsy has been customized so I can promise you, it is much more stressful the first time. But, everything has turned out more than fine. Great actually!

@MASPA: I just drop them a friendly message. Let them know I’m interested in x product, but we’d need a, b, and c customizations, and I was wondering if they’d be able to do that and what the charge and ship date would be for such an item.
It’s nice because I really like to feel out people by how quickly and respectfully they respond and if they seem to have their stuff in order 🙂
