I am very seriously considering ordering my bridesmaids dresses from a shop on Etsy. They have several style the BMs can pick from and I love that each bridesmaid can have one custom made to her measurements.
Has anyone had success with Etsy dresses? Any advice or things to look out for?

Are they those wrap/convertible dresses? I have been seeing alot of those on Etsy where you can where the dress 5 different ways or whatever that way everyone is original but all in the same color.

I’m looking at this shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/amandaarcher
She has several cotton dresses in a ton of colors which is what I was looking for. Most of the dresses are A-line which is a good universally flattering cut. I personally love the “love bird” dress and sort of want it for myself but I’d let my Bridesmaid or Best Man choose any option she makes in cotton

my bridesmaid dresses are going to be made by this etsy designer:
my bridesmaids were supposed to email their measurements to her last week. sounds like everything is working out great so far… my wedding is in august… but i am really really excited about the whole thing!
so far so good!

You might want to check out this seller – she has very similar styles as the one you posted but a LOT cheaper! I think the one you posted is made of silk and this one isn’t, but they still look very similar if you don’t care about the fabric.

@anuicupcake Thanks for sharing, i did see that shop. I am looking for cotton ideally. My only hesitation with that shop is they seem to only have the ruffled collared dress and I’d like to give my BMs at least a few options to pick what they like. I wish she had other deisigns. :/

Every vendor on Etsy is different, so you really can’t judge one vendor by the behavior of another. That being said, Etsy does have a feedback area on each vendor. Check that vendors feedback. Make sure you are on the same page with the vendor regarding what you want. Make sure you are providing them with very detailed measurements and emphasize exactly what you are looking for, or expecting from them. Also make sure that you are both in agreement on a deadline. Then just go for it.

a girl i went to high school with had custom linen/cotton etsy dresses (i know this via facebook): http://handmadeannyschoo.blogspot.com/2010/11/custom-bridesmaids-chinese-bamboo-brush.html
my bridesmaids will also be wearing etsy dresses, but they are in silk. they are silk wrap dresses with butterfly hem (i came up with the shape and am working with an amazing designer/dress-maker in croatia to make them come to life). each of the 7 dresses will have a unique flower of the bridesmaids’ choosing painted on it. so far i only have one dress (this is a pic of me in it, but i’m pretty much the same size as the Bridesmaid or Best Man it was made for).
if you happen to consider silk, i highly recommend the designer i’m working with!! http://www.etsy.com/shop/TanjaDesign

oh yeah, advice! if you have multiple BMs, i would recommend ordering 1 dress first just to make sure you like it and you can also suggest changes based on that dress.
make sure you select a seller who accepts paypal (other payment options can be sketchy or harder to get your money back if something goes south). other than that, the beauty of etsy is that you can find almost anything!
