@gingernutjo:  …its really easy to make these yourself and ridiculously cheap considering what that lady tried to schnook you for on those abominations.

You can get the combs at hobby lobby for less than a buck, floral wire and whatever flowers, pearls and gems you like, I would use fabric glue to attach any sort of stone to the actual petals before I went at it with a glue gun….that stuff gets feathery and stretches….

Either way, just decide which side is going to show, and keep the business end of your construction on the other side….plus, if you biff up, its not going to break you to make another!

I can’t believe those cost you $65!  Why are you shipping it back?  So she can resell that?  How embarrassing.  My SIL is DIYing mine out of my mother’s old wedding dress, for less than $15 (cost of comb/clip and a few pearls).  She is crafty and teaching herself how to coil the fabrics.  I’m sure you could easily DIY those.

Wow that sucks. I’ve had my fair share of disappointing items on etsy too, I rarely order anything anymore. I know they’re huge on amazing photographs to sell their items…but sometimes I really think the photo is too good and misrepresents what the actual item looks like.

@gingernutjo:  I’m sorry that happened! I ordered mine from LeFlowers on Etsy and LOVED it! It was $38.

She’s giving you a refund, you should send it back.
Shipping is expensive, and it’s not like she can recuperate that cost… just ship it to her the cheapest way possible.
Otherwise (and I’m sorry to say) you’re just ripping her off – she’ll lose out on the money and the product. She may just re-use the materials and not resell it.
Or who knows? Maybe it’s exactly what someone else wants.

But year, $65 was way too much.
You can make this yourself if you like, I have a website that I’ve ordered from that sells cheap silk.
A PP had a photo of a lovely flower above that was much less expensive.

Good luck OP!

Please leave a negative review on Etsy to save other brides.  I ended up sorta-making mine.  H&M sold really big flowers for $4 each, and I cut off a bunch of the outer petals to make them smaller, then glued some of them back on in a lower position so it still looked like outer petals.  I thought they looked pretty good.  And just $8!

Got my flower from the dollar tree.. my make up artist ended up combining 2 diff flowers (put more a maroon center instead of yellow) to make the colors match more with my makeup..

$65 for that???? Highway robbery! Oh man. If i had less ethics, i could make a killing on etsy.

There are tons of really good fabric flower tuts on line.  Even with making a few practice ones, you could easily make that for $10.  Or you could buy some fabric flowers from a craft store and spruce it up like the PP did.

I found this video really helpful.

For making a blooming rose.  There’s lots of tut’s for rolling the roses, but this one shows you have to get the blooming open petal look.
